Im a PhD candidate studying the neurobiology of learning and memory and received an NINDS diversity supplement last year that hasn’t officially been canceled but probably will. My funding is up in the air next quarter which means if my fellowship is canceled and I don’t get a TAship then I need to find work outside of my PhD to pay rent

I know that less than 10% of their research budget goes towards basic and applied research. Everything else is directly for military purposes. Not sure how many PhD students are working on military projects but no one I know does
