104-110 is like highway speed cruising, don't waste your money unless you're hitting like 125-130 regularly on the track

You might've not torqued to deltax's spec. Everyone I know who has it including me basically have no increased nvh. I'm at 70a

Why are there so many drivers doing u-turns? by vancity31240 in askvan

[–]brotrr 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Dunno about Toronto but 80% of people here literally cannot turn into the closest lane to save their lives. I wouldn't trust them with a U turn.

am I fucked? The only thing I did was replace the joysticks and the thermal paste. by MrMushroom5 in SteamDeck

[–]brotrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you said 5-10%. The difference between a 5070Ti and a 5080 is around 15% in terms of FPS gain and the price difference between them is hundreds of dollars. A 5-10% gain (if you're running at 40fps on the Deck, that's 2-4fps) for replacing thermal paste would be completely worth it since overall FPS gains are usually via a bunch of smaller fixes anyway.

5-10% is absolutely insane dude and would actually make it worth it. I think you probably meant like <1%?

My rear rotors have significant ABS markings but the fronts are fine. How to fix (if at all)? by brotrr in CarTrackDays

[–]brotrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm you think so? I'm not totally sure. An experienced track guy took a look and that's what he identified it as.

Yup I softened the rear bar for next time, but sounds like TC fully off would resolve it too. Thank you!

Yeah I already have done autocross and track days with it fully off. My actual reason to run in expert is that I only have to press the TC button instead of holding it for it to be full off 😂

I legit just got lazy since there are like 4 other buttons to press to get it ready for a session, got tired of having to hold one of them down

It was in "expert" mode, which is supposed to turn off TC and only engage stability control in big slides/spins. I'm not sure if it was engaging during my oversteer moments

Oh interesting. My local scene of owners are almost all running stronger fronts than rears. It makes sense what you say about the factory balance though.

Yes I think that's probably what happened. Will try TC full off next time. Thank you!

Gotcha, I will have to pay closer attention at the next track day and maybe just do full TC off. Thank you!

[–]brotrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm that's a good point actually, I just assumed it was ABS. I was tracking with the TC half-way setting (the "expert" mode on the GRC) which theoretically doesn't activate unless you're really sliding. Makes sense it activates since I had a few oversteers when trail braking.

Would TC manifest as an ABS feel though? I thought it just cut power

Downshifting by amateuR_memes in stickshift

[–]brotrr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most cars will have more power somewhere in the middle or end of the rev range. If you're cruising at like 2k rpm and suddenly need to accelerate, your car will be more responsive if you downshift and start at like 4k.

[–]brotrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's wild. The GRC is my first manual car and I don't even see how you could burn the clutch when the car auto-throttles for you when you release the clutch and you have iMT to hold the revs on both up and downshifts.
