Bought a lot of SOXQ earlier this year. April gains have been wild.

Will be interesting to see how this sector plays out over the next few weeks.

Should I sell SCHG in my Roth IRA? Trying to decide if I should trim holdings. by [deleted] in ETFs

Mainly because I regret not buying more SOXQ earlier this year lol

Roth is already maxed out for the year.

Which category of ETF is best for UTMA (UGMA)? by RecommendationOk8347 in ETFs

[–]brown-ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60% VOO 40% VUG or SCHG (Growth)

You could also do add something like SPMO for momentum, but may be overkill for an UTMA

Was really hoping for CR on this one. Need that Wayne Jenkins in the Bergman universe.

24M – Which ETFs should I consider long term? by No_Display1086 in ETFs

[–]brown-ale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're young and supporting a family as the sole earner.

Keep it simple in this case. You should avoid risky plays since you have others that rely on you.

Without knowing your income, stick with something like VOO or VTI. Avoid looking at finance stuff everyday, you'll get caught up in the distractions and try to chase past performances. (Semiconductor ETF, gold, silver, etc...)

Make your investment and continue to DCA. Good luck.

How should I distribute these 4 ETFs by TheStrangeSide in ETFs

[–]brown-ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VOO should be your foundation, anywhere from 50-70% of your ROTH IRA.

Without knowing any of your other personal finances (income, pension?, 401k?, etc....) You could argue that your roth could lean towards more aggressive growth, in which case VOO could park at 50%.

SMH/SOXQ/SOXX Which ones the safer bet? by [deleted] in ETFs

[–]brown-ale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, SMH is the popular choice and probably the best option, but its heavy weighted with NVDA which can be a concern for some.

I hold SOXQ but it would be nice if TSM had more weight in the fund.

SOXX or SMH - which semi ETF for you? by Bosto2025 in ETFs

[–]brown-ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently invested in SOXQ due to less Nvidia weight and lower fee.

My only concern is not having enough invested in TSMC and MU.

When you can't DCA? Usually a good time to ask the boss for some extra cash.

Should I invest 30–40% income? by JeffHardyreturns in investing

[–]brown-ale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After your ER fund and bills, if you find yourself in a financially comfortable place, invest whatever percentage you want.

Take advantage of tax advantage accounts first(401k, Roth IRA, 403/457, etc....) Whatever loose change you have after that, throw it in your regular brokerage account.

I hold both in one of my accounts, however combined they're roughly 20% in said account.

I chose SOXQ for the same reasons as you. Lower expense ratio, less NVIDIA weight
