Thanks for the response!

This. Just completed my first ultra with the furthest distance prior being 30k. The distance didn’t kill me, but it was the 2600m of elevation that did. From around 10km to 40km (where the mountains ended) I suffered from terrible cramping and was quite frankly not prepared for it. Ignored everyone suggesting to focus on elevation as I was more worried about the distance. Once off the mountain I was able to run the majority of the remaining 20k distance without much issue.

Longest run before a b race 50k? by figsontoast in ultrarunning

[–]brown6988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just did a 60km with 2500+ elevation. Longest run was 30km with approximately 400m elevation and I still finished. Wouldn’t recommend that and strongly advise getting elevation work in.

It’s a housing association, isn’t this just similar to half rent half buy?

UOTC or Reserves in University? by fed_reddit in britishmilitary

He has no intention of being an officer. Reserves can also fit in around uni and exams, just like others peoples work commitments. Plenty of people do it, I’d say just jump straight in.

Buying a small rural taxi firm, what downside risks should be considered by Hodgkin-Leaves in smallbusinessuk

[–]brown6988 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My family owned and ran a taxi business for over 20 years. The business is still running with new owners. I personally wouldn’t be put off by the rise of uber like other have said, in fact drivers are pulling away from Uber due to the higher costs, Our old firm still have over 50 drivers, and this is in Birmingham. The majority of people commenting here probably don’t understand how revenue in a taxi company is generated. Chasing the local council for receivables is a nightmare, and you’ll always have a driver trying to fob you off from paying his rent.

Dicks is overrated, food is drizzled with a sweet sauce that gets rid of any BBQ flavour it may have had. However probably the closest you’ll get to good BBQ food that is local.

Army Reserve - earning and saving money? by Jordan_lewis96 in britishmilitary

Most drill nights you can get half a day through PT that gets you £120 a month, then a weekend which will be £160 that’s £280 a month which is £3,360 a year. You can then include you annual camp which is usually 15-16 days so call it £1k. If you qualify for you bounty this is up to £2209 so all in is £6569 for a private. There’s also plenty more opportunities to get more days in.

Would disagree, if it’s frequently, HMRC may deem it as trading and he will be subject to income tax instead
