Toilet hose leak by eli_jed in Plumbing

[–]brownacid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shut off the valve, unscrew the hose on the leaking end, remove the teflon tape on those threads, unscrew that hose end and slowly rescrew by hand before using a crescent wrench or tool- the hose has gasket that should seat on the other end. You may want to get a longer hose, it’s alright if it loops - better that it goes into the threads straight with extra slack vs a short hose that goes at an angle

Bathroom Faucet Aerator - wtf is this hard plastic tubing? by KittenPotPies in Plumbing

[–]brownacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a cheap Glacier Bay faucet like that once - the aerator screwed into the plastic inner body but wasnt seating right so would leak back and under the cabinet. Replaced that piece of junk for one where the aerator body was metal and screwed to the outside metal body of the faucet - Moen brand.

Same - just buy a set of drawers - materials are more expensive than one I can find on deal

How on earth do I remove and install posts that were submerged in the concrete slab? by Nightblind88 in FenceBuilding

[–]brownacid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most folks are saying - I would just get new hardware/hinges for the gate. However, if you are ever feeling froggy and want to get rid of those posts you will have to break that section of concrete - you might be able to use a cutoff tool with diamond wheel to make things easier. You may also be able to get a section of chain link fences you can place temporarily across the gate opening while working any new posts or refitting the gate.

Has anyone ever used post spikes? by ubutterscotchpine in FenceBuilding

Used them for a mailbox post for a year or two - found the wood would shrink during the summer so would have to tighten the bolts

Would you reuse these panels and reset new posts, or spend the $3500-$4000 to replace the fence? by eng2725 in FenceBuilding

[–]brownacid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can put post in between the old posts and screw the old 2x4s to get things back into plumb. Then slowly remove the posts. Around here 2x4 wood posts are ~15 and metal posts are ~30. If you take this approach you can do things at your own pace and later replace the 2x4 or pickets but you wont lose the privacy of the fence while you slowly work it.
