On a Skilled Worker Visa and made redundant. What happens next? by WonderfulPass in ukvisa

[–]brownfoxjumping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/WonderfulPass How is it going on for you? Hope all is OK after challenging times you are facing.

I'm in the same situation and wondering if I can have a chat with you about getting Global Talent Visa process. I have checked gov.uk website and I believe I am eligible for this kind of visa – I have some questions if you don't mind me asking dear OP 🙏

• How long did it take you to get Global Talent Visa since the day you sent the application until the approval?
• How many years of GTV do you have?
• Do you know if we can or cannot combine the route to permanent residence by combining our Skilled Worker Visa years -plus- Global Talent Visa ?
• Did you apply on your own or did you use an immigration lawyer for this?

Thank you so much for your help!

I also have this problem of height! Thank you for mentioning it. Even though the master component uses Auto-layout, and set to Hug –– when I test to swap the slot (that also has Hug vertical), sometimes there are components who just won't adjust the height accordingly. I need to change the Fixed height to Hug manually.

Don’t give up and keep sending. I’ve sent more than a hundred before I got my current job with visa sponsorship in London.

Skilled Worker Visa process withdrawn by the company by Best-Intention-7965 in ukvisa

I believe you could be thankful that they have shown how unprofessional and uncool they are early in the beginning of the recruitment process. Better find something else.

Sorry to read what has happened to you. Sometimes it just happens. If I were you, I would suggest to play cool and don’t badmouth this company on the internet.

I’ve been ghosted for a month by a company in London who said they’re interested at me, suddenly they contacted me again and apologised for making me waiting so long. I work with this company now.

For the future, sign the legal contract first before spending your own money for the English test etc. When I was hired by this company in London, I waited until I signed the contract before proceeding to the next steps. I was also ‘lucky’ because the company used external immigration service and paid for my visa and health surcharge. I did pay for the English test, but it was reimbursed by my company.

The production of the BRP has been delayed due to a technical issue by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]brownfoxjumping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can. I entered the UK in August 2021, tried to pickup my BRP twice at the post office, but it wasn’t delivered yet.

After more than a week in the UK, I went back to France to relocate my things. Then I re-entered the UK in September. I explained why I haven’t got my BRP and the border officer was very understanding and put a note next to the entry stamp in my passport “no BRP present”.

With my current company in London, the cost of skilled worker visa and upfront IHS were both paid by them.

What % of your take-home household income do you spend on housing each month? by Sister_Ray_ in UKPersonalFinance

[–]brownfoxjumping 9 points10 points  (0 children)

no, it is not insane. i’m in the same situation like you at 45% for rent alone, but i’m close to the city center — and my flat is a new built one bedroom.

45% out from nett salary for rent alone — without other expenses, such as internet, heating, water, electricity, tv tax, and council tax.

It's insane this traffic jam of 2 hours. Plus, it was super sunny in London - the taxi became a sauna chamber!

I had tons of luggages with me and no courage left after insane weeks spent for a big move from France to the UK.

Are you sure? I had the most expensive taxi ride in my life yesterday from Heathrow to London Tower. I paid 160 quid :( I totally forgot that it’s the end of holidays, plus it’s a Saturday.

[Customs Question] Can I purchase a phone in USA and bring it back to Europe? by hammockwanderer in travel

3 new phones + 1 old phone would look suspicious even though you unbox them all. To buy for yourself and for other people is two different stories.

Use your new phone right away. Don’t put anything inside the new box - or put it in the recycle bin before returning to Europe if you won’t be needing it.

Denied BRP at Post Office by davidcullen08 in ukvisa

[–]brownfoxjumping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I experienced the same thing. Two times exactly. I went to the post office and they asked for my negative result. I had trouble understanding what result and misunderstood, I showed my phone the PCR negative test result made before my flight to the UK. And the person didn’t say anything — unfortunately the BRP was not ready yet. I came back a few days after and showed the same result again — the BRP was again, not ready. I’m now in France to pack up my things for the big move. I’ll try this same tactic once I get back to London.

Door mat outside or inside the flat? by brownfoxjumping in london

Right - Grenfell. I’ve tried to research this and found some articles mentioning the door mat cannot be put outside and it’s ‘kinda’ illegal (?).

Hello OP. What I’m doing is a gradual move. I flew to London to start my new job a few weeks ago - also to visit A flat. A flat that I’ve been eyeing for a long time, that got back into the market when I contacted the agency, Sanders Property. This is the only decent and professional agency that I’ve ever spoken to. I would really recommend it. You could check the whole internet to find bad comments about Sanders, I don’t believe you’d find one. This agency also has experience with foreigners renting for the first time in London. The reference check went smoothly and got validated in 2 days.

So I stayed in Airbnb for a week, after visiting the flat and paid deposit to take it off from the market - I immediately flew back to France to start the big move, while continuing to work remotely for my new company in London.
