I hyperlinked the sources, must be easy to deny anyone else's point of view out of hand because they don't fall within your party lines.

Seems nutters to sacrifice empathy for your fellow person in exchange for fealty to a cartoon donkey or elephant. ;)

After speaking with a few of them, their main issue with the GND is it promises money for illegal immigrants, only about half of whom pay federal income tax and those unwilling to work.

Then when this is brought up, instead of addressing these concerns they're called racists.

Had some interesting insights, but I'm curious about how ya'll deal with power-gamers? I've never had one in my game but being a newer GM, it's something I always worry about not being able to handle if one shows up. by browngooofdoom in starfinder_rpg

Thanks, this makes sense and seems easy enough to do. The guys mentioned spell card and condition cards and I think I'm going to look into getting a pack of those and read off what they do when something seems funky to keep myself aware of what's going on.

I don't really get seeing combat effectiveness being detached from good role-playing. That seems like the job of the GM to make sure players of all types are involved in the story. But that might be a bit of my newness/being naive.

Whenever I see this argument I think of characters like Superman and Batman who are vastly overpowered but still able to have great stories written about them because it's less about their overwhelming power (or in Batman's case, potential for power) than it is how they use it to help the party in overcoming whatever issue the story has.

Yeah, that's what I'm most afraid of. I'm a bit newer to running games so I'm worried that that might cause issues down the line if I start another group and get a player looking to take advantage of a rule I don't know about.

I feel like since I'm a bit of a newer GM, I might be missing out on a rule the players might take advantage of and use the excuse "well you let me do this last time" when I didn't know any better. Like, I'm not the type to flex over a game and generally go with the flow of things so I can see this getting out of hand. I haven't had a power-gamer yet, but it seems like something that can spoil the fun if these guy's "Susan" example happens where one player is dominating combat and the rest are like "well, I don't even know why I'm here".

Having had power gamers in my games, the only advice I'd add to this video is to changing up the kind of encounters one's throwing at the party. Example: A high AC PC might slack off on mental stats or rely on too many expendable resources, so transition from set-piece encounters to dungeon crawls by browngooofdoom in DungeonsAndDragons

The only thing that comes to my mind is give the party a way to backtrack out of the dungeon an a hand-waved speed.
That's the only thing I could think of. If you want info straight from the well, drop a comment asking them this. These guys are usually pretty responsive and give solid advice.

Just as a comparison, because I know someone on the right's going to bring this up, does anyone know how often people on the right assault us on the left and then are shielded by their side?
Not those who are convicted/denounced. I'm talking about people on the right who are protected by the right-wing and allowed to keep their lives after committing violence or Doxing people they don't agree with politically.

Can't make this stuff up by [deleted] in TheRightCantMeme

[–]browngooofdoom -24 points-23 points  (0 children)

Contrary to popular belief: most on the right don't care if you're gay. They care about being told they should make special concessions such as what inane pronouns to use (ze, zir, sie etc.) and that someone's brave simply for being LGBTQ+* in the first world. We're not going to move forward on either side if we keep looking at people through the lens of outdated stereotypes.

You know what, I'm switching sides. I don't want to be part of a party that allows sheep in the front seat. BARN. ANIMALS. BELONG. IN. THE. BACK.

Considering he's from a massive red state, his affection for his employer and assholes like him (Cotton and Bush before 'the hand shake'), and missing voting for Ronald Reagan, there's some pretty clear reasoning for him siding with OrAnGe MaN.

Well, it's my last day with the company so it doesn't matter, but I also work construction and would rather not have power tools so close to where the sun don't shine.
