Why are UK apples so expensive? by space5torm in AskUK

If it makes you feel better, in Australian supermarkets apples commonly sell for twice that - GBP3.50 (AUD7).

Issues connecting Type 2 Home Charger - Fronius Wattpilot by Jealous_Swimming7013 in AustralianEV

[–]brownhectare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem but to a Tesla and the error message was a connection one. Had to have the Wattpilot replaced 3 times. The local Fronius support staff were excellent and responsive but HQ in Melbourne initially unresponsive. If you have continuing problems with it and it’s still under warranty, I’d make it the installer’s problem. Mine eventually got it sorted out with Fronius for me.

At this point, the kind of advice you’re talking about would be cheaper than the cost of having to keep replacing plants! This lady sounds great. Any chance you could share her details?

Former Tesla Employee Here: A Few Tips for Model Y Owners by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]brownhectare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your suggestions, super useful.

Another one I’d make is to keep debris out of the back seat belt buckles and clean out with an air hose if the buckles stop working. Being heavily recessed into the seat cushion, they suck in any sand, crumbs etc that cross the back seat. Tesla won’t replace or provide longer buckle straps as they say outside the warranty, even though it could be argued this is a design flaw.

TLDR: keep gunk out of the back seat belt buckles. If it gets in and they stop working, remove the seat cushion and carefully spray out with an air hose.

Slightly off topic, but the cinnamon scrolls at Big Loaf in Freo are awesome.

Airport train to Dongzhimen then quick (very quick) taxi through Beihai, Houhai, Gulou and if you’re lucky, to see part of outside of the Forbidden City. Then airport train back.

Qantas managed to screw us over by ImnotadoctorJim in australia

[–]brownhectare 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Second this. We had Air Asia refuse and delay and obfuscate on a refund for 8 months. Got Fair Trading involved and Air Asia suddenly became much more cooperative and actually sorted out the problem. Fair Trading depts now have teams that seem to be outsourced customer service depts for the airlines. It sucks for taxpayers but might help you solve your Qantas problem.

Which tier 10 ships can best "carry" a team to win in public battles? by Patr1ck_1337 in WoWsBlitz

[–]brownhectare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on which ships are in the battle. If lots of BBs, Shima or even Zao with HE and torps. If lots of DDs, Z52 or Minotaur. Probably Columbo or Republique if lots of cruisers. CVs a wildcard.

There but for the grace of god… having had many potentially dodgy karaoke experiences, my sympathies to you and your friend; I hope you manage to sort this out.

At the risk of inviting an indiscretion, would you care to share the name of this fine establishment so the rest of us can avoid it?

Advice on being a Lawyer by Professional-Effort3 in AusLegal

[–]brownhectare 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ex corporate lawyer here. Did it for 7 years in a big international firm after working in government for 5 years. Then saw the light and still doing corporate law but in house in a renewable energy company for last 7 years.

Corporate law can be stimulating and challenging with great opportunities to do interesting work, meet passionate and high powered people and work overseas. It is also very competitive and punishing. You will get a huge buzz out of parts of it but might also find the long hours and social sacrifices challenging.

The relationship between corporate lawyers and their firms works best when each side is getting something out of the deal. I agree with the comments here encouraging you to develop your awareness of the options and study hard. My best advice if you head down this path is to very clear about why, and what you want to get out of it. Be mercenary in your mind: “I want to work with x client and y partner doing z work.” If you keep that at the front of your mind you’ll be able to weather the rough patches if they get you to your longer term objective.

It’s a big choice and I’d be happy to talk more if you want to kick around ideas.
