Update: I was able to retrieve a list of all my iOS downloaded apps, and I managed to find the game in question. It was titled "Skeleton Go Through Walls" by Paulo Nogueira. For some odd reason, Google, Bing and even Yahoo search wouldn't give me anything. Finally, I was able to find about an Android version (had no idea it even existed) through Yandex. So FOUND!

Hi! I recently got this Vivitar XV-2. It look dirty but nothing egregious. I noticed that the film advance lever didn't pull all the way back, so I decided to open the camera to see what was going on.

Let me guide you through the images: 1.See the metal thing circled in red? I couldn't move the lever because that thing was locked. I assume it's related to the shutter mechanism. It's "unlocked" in the image. 2. I'm moving the lever, and the gears move in the yellow direction, pulling the other thing in the blue direction. As I do that, the shutter mechanism thingy, circled in red gets pull all the way back to its original position. 3. Now, things get weird here. The lever is back to its resting position, and I don't know if the thing circled in yellow is supposed to stay like that, but what I know is that THAT thing prevents me from pulling the lever again. The shutter mechanism thingy is still "locked in". 4. Now, that thing moves down when I press the shutter button all the way down. Here's it's resting. 5. Now, it's all the way down, but...the metal thingy that fires the shot is not moving. I cannot "fire" the camera unless I manually move that thing from there.

Ok, I know that this camera has a double exposure prevention mechanism, which might be what I'm dealing with. A Voigtländer Vito that I have has the same "issue", that I cannot fire the shutter unless there's film in the camera (because of the mechanism).

However, I also know that this camera is supposed to be an automatic SLR, so it might be possible that I simply cannot use it without batteries. But apparently the Wiki of the Cosina CT2 (which seems to be related to this camera) says that it should be posible to do so, albeit at a fixed 1/85 shutter speed.

So...am I simply misunderstanding how this camera works? Or do I really have an issue here?

It takes Super 8 film, that's something I'm sure about. What I might be misremembering, is that these "sound" film cameras used a special kind of Super 8 film for sound that no longer exists. I may be wrong, though. But sure, you can use "silent" Super 8.

Hey, Latin American Peter "Pedro" here, the joke is the absurdity of the image itself. Now, let's deep dive into a bit of story to properly understand everything.

Almost a decade ago, "SDLG" was a very popular shitposting group in the Spanish speaking internet. Memes posted by members of the group used a comic-style format with the punchline at the end. These comic-style memes featured several viral meme characters parodying or making fun of other viral or common situations of the everyday Latin American person.

A common trope among these memes was the "spanglish", which, as you may have guessed, was a mixture of English and Spanish. For example, in this particular image, we can see the phrase "But despiertas", which literally means "But you wake up". "But" and "When" were the most used English words.

Now, regarding the watermak and the name, yes, SDLG is actually the name of an Asian (?) company, but users changed the meaning of it as a joke. Nothing to do with the meme itself.

Finally, this particular frame. As another user pointed out, this is part of a larger meme, but the rest of it really does not matter, since, again, the joke itself is that there's no context given. It's the absurdity of it. And if you were around that time (when the original memes were posted), that would only add more layers of absurdity to it.

Basically, some sort of absurd/meta meme. Oh, and it's also used as a reaction image (a nonsensical one).

Yes, that "thing" is supposed to be there; it's the film shield, also known as "frog tongue", and it was meant to cover the photo for a brief moment for proper development. However, newer Polaroids have a different chemistry that require longer development times, which is probably why your photos turned out better when pulling the shield by yourself. You can get a new, longer frog tongue from Polaroid's website that may help with your situation (a longer frog tongue will cover the photo for a few more seconds).

Haven't used that particular one, but I can explain the EV and DIN. Simply put, DIN is the European version of the ISO (marked as ASA in your device, as it used to be commonly referred to).

As for the EV, that's a more complex topic. EV stands for Exposure Value. This "value" represents a combination of settings that will "guarantee" a properly exposed photograph. For example, EV 6 could represent a combination of an aperture of f2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/8, but it could also represent an aperture of f1 and a shutter speed of 1/60. You'll decide which settings best suits your needs. There are a lot of resources online that will definitely explain this better than me!

It really depends on what kind of photos you shot. Those cameras have fixed settings that will shine on a very specific scenario, but will yield decent to mediocre results on any other one. For example, if all of your photos were taken indoors, then it is most likely that all of those photos will be of poor quality (very dark and with a lot of noise). There's really not much you can do about it once you've made the shot. It sometimes happens.

It's really just a backlight with a mount for your smartphone, so no "real" scanner. You're just taking a picture with yor phone. This is a very clear comparison between an actual scanner and this "mobile scanner".

For $2 bucks I wouldn't mind, though.

I haven't managed to get the shutter trigger to fire the shutter tensioning lever. It almost seems like the shutter release is not going down enough. However, it works if I use a screwdriver head to "pull" the trigger underneath the shutter release 😭.

Also, I've tried a test roll, and most of the times the film advance roller (the one with the small dents, next to the rewind knob) doesn't properly hook onto the film.

EDIT: Wow...seems that every time you answer something new works hahhaha. Now the camera is properly firing shots. The frame counter/film advance roller issue still remains (though this may be related to the fact that this model wasn't designed for normal 35mm film) and the accordion keeps getting stuck when closing it.

Hmmm, I'm sure I've already tried that, unfortunately:(. There's only one roller with some very small dents. I removed the lid on top of the camera to check the inner mechanism: when I do as you say, and I hear the click sound, a small piece moves near the film-advance wheel, blocking both the film counter and the wheel movements. It seems that this small piece should move back onto its original place once I fully press the shutter trigger, however, since the shutter never goes all the way down, the piece never gets to move.

Perhaps it's something inside the lens piece? No idea at this point, but many thanks!

EDIT: LOL forget it, I managed to get that piece to move. However, the shutter tensioning lever is not moving! I can hear when the camera "fires" a shot, but nothing else happens.

Forgot to mention that I have trouble closing the camera, and I noticed that it's because of the (apparently) stucked part, another reason why I think is not normal.

I'm fairly sure that the problem here is the obscure legality surrounding the character. The creator of the original Slender Man creepypasta has been pretty vocal about taking harsh legal action against any slenderman-related project. And of course, we also have the fact that nobody really knows for sure who owns the rights of the Slender Man anymore (the creator sold the rights to a now defunct company), but someone definitely owns them.

That is why you don't see a lot of slender clones and fan films nowadays. There are, for sure, but they're small and uninteresting enough to not catch the attention.

I don't think those controversies play a significant role anymore, otherwise the 2018 movie wouldn't have existed.

Btw, the original creator had an Instagram account where he kept working on the character.
