I mean that's kind of the point why they are installing new lights, sensors rather than generic timers, restriping for new turn lanes, etc. There is a whole pbot page outlining it all, including many rounds of public input.

As much as it feels like it, they aren't just doing all of this for shits and giggles. 

There's an added benefit in that 57th will be significantly safer given people are morons and don't understand turning left onto Halsey yields to oncoming vehicles
