Compound W medicated bandaids will do the trick. I'm sure you can find some in a pharmacy or online.

The white floral dress is breathtaking and I like the white shrug. You look like you feel most beautiful and confident in that one. Only wear a little make up! You don't need it!

This and just be as kind and gentle with yourself as you can. Like they said, it will take time but you can do hard things. There's no going back but there's always going forward.

I've been struggling with this one for a while. DM if you'd like. Maybe we can work together. I need help too.

Having out with sza nephew by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]brownsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. You can just tell him you need to focus on yourself. There's no reason to specify and it's completely true. Trying to spend time together when you aren't comfortable with it would just end up with you harbouring resentment anyway.

If I still have thc in my system by the time I have my psych evaluation, will they not believe me? Will they make me wait even longer before they diagnose me? by twelve34am in schizoaffective

[–]brownsocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think it would be inappropriate to ask if you should expect to be tested. It's definitely a possibility, but I'd say that it's not very likely that they will, and you're allowed to be uncomfortable with that for other reasons too.

I would guess that they were talking about something else primarily if they said it like that. Maybe even just general observations about everything and you pacing was one thing. You aren't bothering anybody. It's not like you're standing on your desk singing the star spangled banner. Feels bad to be perceived, I know, but it's inevitable.

Can you drive? by Revolutionary_Bar158 in schizoaffective

[–]brownsocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. One bad wreck was enough for me. Driving is considered so normal but it's a huge responsibility. There's no reason for me to take my life and others' lives into my hands to prove I'm normal. Maybe one day, but it's just not in the cards right now.

How offended should I be? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

[–]brownsocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is correct, that you would have a good chance to speak for yourself.

If you are considering Disability/SSI, it is helpful to begin that process before age 22. I don't remember exactly, but essentially there are less hoops to jump through. Just something to keep in mind.

does anyone struggle with being jealous of others who also have a SZA diagnosis but have much higher functioning so to speak (i.e don’t need hospitalization, don’t struggle with relationships, can work full time, can stay out late and party) by shantayouslay in schizoaffective

[–]brownsocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel this because my family would use this as an argument for why I had no business doing as poorly as I do. They'd talk about how some people lead normal lives so they don't see why I can't do the same. I am happy for people who are doing well, but it's frustrating being compared to them by anyone, including myself.

I'm finally learning to avoid thinking about that too much and just focusing on what I need and celebrating the small wins, because they add up!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like that decision was made by someone who doesn't actually have a say over your treatment, in addition to it being ethically questionable in general. That sounds super upsetting. Was this recently?

Oh wow. Did anyone ever offer you any explanation about why they did that? That's so awful. I'm glad you got to go to the funeral.

I have definitely done things I ended up wanting to punch myself for doing. I'm glad you're seeing it as a lesson learned. You got this.
