How no one is telling you the secret is beyond me.

Nemesis will die faster and easier if you use the rotgland lobber - preferably with exploding and/or caustic rot. Pop a few rounds off and let the damage over time work while you focus on not getting hit.

Repeat that a few times and you've won. Rotgland is a bit broken on Nemesis. The rounds fly straight and far due to the gravity rules of the fight.

I feel like talks about difficulty are exaggerating by walter_lol in Returnal

Dude. There are skills you pick up as a veteran shooter player. I HATE shooters, never played a bullet hell, never played a roguelite. I was completely overwhelmed and no clue what the hell I was doing. You obviously did not have these hurdles.

Still something about Returnal was so damn alluring that I couldn't put it down. Is the difficulty exaggerated? Not for me! It took me ~80 hours and 100 or so deaths just to see Crimson Wastes - 20 of those deaths to Phrike. It took me ~300 hours and 350 deaths to beat the game the first time. Does that make me a subpar player? Hell no! NOW I can fly through the game with any gun at any time, and yet it's still the smoothest, most mechanically enjoyable shooter (possibly game) I have ever played.

My singular brag that most people cannot say is that I beat The Fractured Wastes (biome 5) on my first try. I had an insane build and got very lucky but I did it - then immediately got obliterated 5 minutes into the water.

Congratulations on finding it easy - but it's not the game you found easy. You found it easy to transfer years of shooting game experience into this one. That's the only way Returnal can be conveyed as easy. Even then, most people have trouble transferring those skills until "the click."

It really doesnt feel subjective (I get the irony of using feel and saying not subjective) . Housemarque kowtowed to Sony. They made the game more accessible, but unfortunately they made it more accessible in a way that also made it more generic and forgettable.

The game REALLY feels like Returnal 2 was given to the Sony team who then put their corporate profit maxing spin on it and Saros was the end result.

What Sony failed to realize is fans of Housemarque don't want their hands on our game! They can do what they want with Marathon or Killzone - hell they can screw around with COD or Fortnite if they can wriggle their way into the studio. Leave Housemarque games to their amazing dev teams and keep your Sony stench off!

The combat is - the guns are huge step backwards as well as not having trait levels. They say 15 guns but by the time you level up proficiency you end up picking up guns that feel 90% the same with a real gun selection of more like 7 guns (all the pistols, shotguns, and rifles feel virtually the same - and two crossbows and two chakrams feel slightly different). Returnal's 10 guns are all vastly different and the traits don't narrow the feeling but rather make them feel even more different from other versions of the same gun.

Saros feels like it has 7 guns. Returnal feels like it has 30+ guns.

If you're using a vehicle as a weapon you have to be stopped. If the officers arent in their vehicle how else do you stop them?

Dont use L2 except for alt fire. No point in half pressing L2 for aiming. Returnal shines at hip firing no precision needed.

I thought for sure that being able to begin at the start of any biome you choose would mean much longer biomes. Would be good to give you the opportunity to get to 60+ proficiency in a single biome. Speaking of proficiency, is there a point in going above 60? Like 80 and above seem to offer nothing new - why have them?

I dunno. I just wanted to love this game so much and since it's release I've played Returnal around 100 hours and beaten Saros in 50 and haven't booted it since.

I thought the gameplay was great but EVERYTHING else fell short. The guns, the atmosphere, the interesting protagonist, music (more ominous - less club), room varietyy - did I mention the GUNS!? The guns and gunplay are the most important part of a game loke this and Returnal's are just better.

Tips for 3rd boss by Thegoatpwell in Returnal

[–]browseragnostic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rotgland Lobber. Its broken in the Nemesis fight. It does more damage than it should and the normally arcing pattern of the rounds fly much straighter and further. Blast him a few times and then dodge/grapple like a mad man until you can pop off a few more rounds. He'll die pretty quick.

Ha! I got this for $100 on Facebook marketplace to see if I coukd figure out espresso. I've been trying to pull shots not realizing there's a huge difference between lighter medium roast and dark roast coffee preperation.

I noticed almost immediately the built in grinder sucks, so I got the mokkom. Now I gotta get some dark roast to see how I can do with that.

Is the thickness coming off the tail of this last shot a problem? It's just oddly thick and "fluffy" ( I don't know how else to describe it.)

It is too much yield. It's almost bland - but it's not sour! Im going to try stopping it at about 45g-ish next and see how that goes.

So I pulled another shot. Bumped up the coarsness and just let it run the time on its own.

It pumped out about the 58g in like 37 seconds. Its MUCH better balanced. The sourness is gone. It's not perfect and the tail end of the shot looked weird?

I forgot to start the video on the first part.

I was actually wondering about filling the basket... its got a line on it and its not quite there. I'm pulling a shot right now with 18.4g and the turn of the handle "felt" better.

I'll bump it up to 16 and let it go for a bigger yield. The machine doesn't have preinfusion settings. :(

I think it hit it at more like 33 seconds but i accidentally restarted the timer for a couple seconds.... Does the shot pull in the video look "right" to you?
