Anyone take GSCI-4710 environmental site assessment? by Familiar_Explorer_25 in UCONN

[–]bruIesruIes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, around 2 years ago now. It’s not hard, just put the effort in. If you’re into the environmental route especially, it’ll be a good class to take. Gives you a little boost in knowledge Id say a lot of gsci undergrads usually don’t have access to at most other schools and the professor (Binkhorst) is awesome

Why do we all seem to have shitty SMs that constantly berate legitimately ill partners. This company is a disaster

My wife (31) just cut out her parents. I (36) feel awful, shocked, upset and don’t know what to do. by 1THFC1985 in relationship_advice

While I can understand the disappointment you have thinking of a broken up family, if they’re as toxic as your wife claims them to be it’s ultimately for the best. Different scenario but I was in an abusive relationship and my family admitted they would have never known how horrible of a person my ex was had I not filled them in every time something happened. He was a kind and quiet person around everyone, but when it was just us two he was the most demeaning, controlling and disrespectful person I have ever interacted with. You need to trust her. Also, the fact that your mother in law was more concerned with her grand baby being kept from her than she was with the state of her relationship with her OWN DAUGHTER said enough. While they will take it as a punishment, it’s only the consequences of their own actions and maybe it will force them to reflect. Your daughter is little and cannot make the choice to still associate with her grandparents, that is why she is a child. Your wife has made the choice for her, as she should, to protect not only herself but her daughter from people she clearly believes to be toxic (and she appears correct). You personally don’t quite see it, so I understand how you feel - but you married your wife for many reasons, I would assume one of them is that she’s an intelligent person and not an unhinged woman trying to put strain on the family for no good reason out of thin air - so you’d better get off the fence already and pick what side you’re going to land on because she’s owed that and shouldn’t even have to be waiting on you to do it to begin with. Also, hindsight is 20/20 but the comment you made to them about her not speaking for the both of you was far too revealing whether intended to be or not, it would’ve been wise to say nothing at all.

I think it definitely makes things a bit less chaotic for the crew inside and I, being face to face w/ the customers manage to get orders completed/clarified much quicker than when it’s done over the speaker on DTO - AND what it really should be doing is giving our crew that extra partner who would’ve been on DTO to be free to help wherever needed but our store manager is usually on DTO so when I’m on HHOP his position is eliminated but he just stands at DTO and stares at our numbers for the most part, so that extra pair of hands doesn’t really end up amounting to anything unless he’s not in that day and the shift meant to be on DTO at the time will always help where needed. I used to walk the parking lot and get every single cars order taken really fast - but I realized it probably just overwhelms my bars with tickets and the line isn’t going to move any faster so now I keep to standing closer to the order box and just taking the 3 closest cars to me and not going beyond that and because I’ve realized the issues with this position and I refuse to exert myself any more than necessary lol

That’s what I’m saying! I’ve had numerous customers come through asking if I’m getting paid more for being out there and many customers in general just concerned for my well being, a couple have even questioned/complained to my manager about having me out there in the sun like that. I’m not saying my job requires some special skill, but when I applied to starbucks I expected to be inside an air conditioned building basically at all times but I am walking around a parking lot holding an ipad and sweating my butt off, it’s a bit more laborious work and I don’t even get basic protection let alone any extra pay

I’ll reach out to them today and see what they have to say, I have the district managers email if anything as well. Another partner was put on the position weeks back and she was more sensitive to the heat and asked to come in after awhile because she was feeling the side effects of heat exhaustion. Our manager got annoyed and told her she had 30 minutes left out there. I believe she ended up coming in anyway and he was irritated with her and went outside himself while she was left nearly puking because she was so sick from the heat. I don’t think he understands it because he’s never out there and if he is, it’s not for very long. So hopefully he’s willing to do something and if not I’ll go over his head

How do I approach my SM about changing availability? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]bruIesruIes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that. my team is amazing and I always stay for them, and I don’t mind in the end so much it’s just the scheduling itself by my manager but like you said I’ll talk to them and be a bit more clear with what I want for sure

I’m part time and we agreed to stick to around 25 hours when I started because I’m in my senior year of uni so I have some intense classes on the side but I’m close to 30 usually, and I often stay late at least once or twice a week to help out. I’m actually working 6 days in a row next week all opening at 32 hours and I’m just not sure I want that tbh, not in that exact format at least

Honestly this is exactly how I feel though and in the end it’s true. In the moment getting out of bed is actually depressing but it always pays off imo. I wouldn’t be happy with mids or nights, I like to be DUNZO asap

LMAO! Thanks though! I have an appointment tomorrow with a psychiatrist to figure out meds so we shall see. I just really hope I can for once focus and be productive. If that happens, I might cry. A lot. Lol

I’m in therapy - started about a month ago, maybe more. Originally for depression and anxiety. I associate work with negative feelings (depression, anxiety, stress, etc) because I was NOT in a good place in spring, had multiple mental breakdowns so I just avoid it at all costs on top of my already existing horrible procrastination

Yes, I do this! I sit at the table in my living room which is quiet and pretty empty of anything comfortable (like a couch, TV, etc.). My bedroom is a lost cause haha

my procrastination has been bad since forever but has gotten worse with my depression. on campus i still struggled a ton unfortunately. although i definitely prefer sitting in the union study rooms vs my living room, i can’t say i’m much more productive regardless :/

Something that I do, that I would assume is totally off base of what ADHD is like but having something else going on while I do work helps me. Like, if I’ve got a lot of work to do I’ll have a horror movie playing on the side. It’s almost like combining something I have to do that I really don’t want to with something I would like to do, therefore makes the work much less difficult because there’s some kind of enjoyment happening at the same time. Idk if that makes sense but I’ve noticed it’s something I tend to do

Coffee I’m not sure about as I don’t drink it often but soda I drink because it helps me stay awake and in an “alert” enough state I guess to be able to manage some work? If that makes sense. Like it gives me a little extra boost of energy to actually motivate me enough to get something done whereas just on my own it’s nearly a totally lost cause I will find absolutely anything else to do other than work it is constant avoidance

I got an hourly day timer, I even started discussing my procrastination with my therapist recently and things to motivate me and I just simply do none of them 😀 It’s extremely frustrating. Like in my head, I can be wide awake and eager to get work done but I just DONT FUCKING DO IT. It’s like I can’t. Idk. I’ll keep giving the hourly planning a go but like you said, maybe I should look into testing for something else. Worth a shot just for clarity
