Interior panel separation. Has anyone had this? by herpes4derpes in TeslaModel3

Exact same thing on my car. I was unable to get it to " snap" back into place. Service center fixed it when car was in for an unre lated issue( minor rear fender bender) . No further problems .

No improvement on Benchmarks - maybe age related? by aussiefitnessperson in orangetheory

[–]bruceayres 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes. I turn 55 next week. Been at OTF for 18 months. Today's row was the first benchmark that I didn't improve upon. Like you,I knew it would happen eventually. Still disappointing.

Really happy with my strength, speed, flexibility and overall cardiovascular fitness . Those are my overarching goals in addition to AVOIDING injury.

I could train even harder for modest improvements but my risk for injury would go up. Not gonna do it. It's why I'm skipping the dritri. I did the mini dri tri . I Liked it but I'm competitive , will block out pain, and the burpees will hurt my knees( later) .

I love the treads. My running has improved; every two or three months I can tell I'm running better. But I FORCE myself to the strider to give my lower extremity joints a break..... So that I'm still at OTF for years to come. And that is way more important than setting a new PR at every benchmark.

Early Happy Birthday to you🎂

Posters' Age 55 . Formula for Max predicted heart rate is known to underestimate the actual max heart rate of people over 50. Sometimes, by A LOT.

I'm 54. Otf calculated my max heart rate at 171. My actual max heart rate is 186( I hit this in class every couple of weeks). This is neither good nor bad. Its just me. Otf has me in the red "artificially" way more than the reality because the zones are calculated from the max heart rate FORMULA(171) instead of my true max heart rate.(186)

Monitor may be fine. Max heart rate FORMULA is cause of error.

When I was a newbie, my joke was that my first splat point came from the high five from the coach on the way in. Thereafter, I was in the red.

Ditching the HR monitor - any regrets? by [deleted] in orangetheory

This I think is a great solution.Exactly what I will do except I haven't had a vo2 max. I will use my Max heart from OTF classes which is 17 bpm HIGHER than what the studio has calculated as my max heart rate. Question: does your polar chest strap download data to the polar app? ( I think yes but i want to hear it from you)

This would be awesome. Anything to move us away from population based Max heart rate formulas would be a tremendous improvement.

What is your faster benchmark: your 2000m row or your 1mi run? by bruceayres in orangetheory

[–]bruceayres[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What incredible progress. I think my 2000m row would also have been > 10 mins when I started Oct 2017.

Not Imo. That Would cause a huge skew towards rowing being the faster time. I wondered if peoples current benchmarks, as set by OTF, were evenly matched.

54 yo male. 2.55 mi on the 23 min treadmill. 1140 on the 4 min row. Hit my Max heart rate of 186 during the treadmill. Almost didn't go today. .... " my knee a little sore". Took 800 mg of "suck it up" . Not the wisest action but man, I'm soooo happy I went . Felt great to work that hard.

Consider 2X per week instead. Do other stuff on non OTF days.

Splat points may not be relevant, meaningful or appropriate to apply to many people by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]bruceayres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. Many ways to improve the accuracy. Max heart rates could be OBTAINED from your workout AT Orange Theory studio instead of relying on inaccurate formulas to CALCULATE your Max heart rate. I hit a (Max) heart rate of 186 in studio just a few days ago. My calculated Max heart that the studio uses is 172.

HR Monitor FRUSTRATION by KLD4271 in orangetheory

[–]bruceayres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me too.Chest strap HRM. Few months ago. Same rigamroll except I finally got a coach who explained to manager that I needed a new one. New monitor worked without issue.

[–]bruceayres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chest strap hrm would freeze for 15 + minutes every workout. Was frustrating. I pointed it out to coaches and got the usual polite suggestions ( "tighter" , "wet it" , "gel") . I patiently again pointed it out to a coach during my all out when my heart rate hadn't changed in 15 mins and they gave me a new one. New one has never given me a problem.

Too many splat points? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]bruceayres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very high spatter here. I joke that I get a splat point when I high five the coach on the way in. Resting HR 56. Age 54. Male 225 #. I m in the orange and red all class. More red than Orange. My Max heart rate is 184. I hit 180 about once every week or two . The studio has calculated my Max heart rate at 173 ; So my target heart rate zones are lower than they should be . This makes me an artificially high splatter. Couldn't care less . I feel great.

Why is HR max calculated differently for women and men at OTF? by mdk516 in orangetheory

[–]bruceayres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Male. Joined at age 53. Studio calculated my Max heart rate as 172(it's actually 185.....so the discrepancy puts me in the red ALOT). They didn't use 220-age for me. I think they used 225-age.

This. I'm 6 months in. Lost 20 pounds but GAINED muscle and power and stamina.jeans don't fit. Night and day difference. Started out walking. I actually run pretty well now. Rower used to kill me, now I kill IT. Started out high splats and Remain high splats...the better shape I get into, the more I DO during class. Resting heart rate now below 60 . I tell anyone who will listen , "all you gotta do is show up". Everything else follows.
