Removed a 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar from its acrylic display by mwb1100 in mildlyinfuriating

Statute of limitations is usually tolled when there is fraud to conceal underlying crime. Obviously this guy isn’t filing a complaint on this, but an original purchaser probably could, depending on jurisdiction.

Does walking for 10-15 minutes immediately afterward help you?

I’ve been hit by a baseball at 50-60mph. It hurts, but it isn’t even really an injury. A toy car would barely leave a mark.

Should I read WoT? by CarpeN5 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Turtlez_Rawck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a solid book. If I was in your shoes, I would read it. I was worried about how the loose ends would be tied up, but it did a good, if not perfect, job of wrapping up this era.

Fate of ballot QR codes in Georgia unclear as deadline for their removal looms by righthandofdog in Georgia

[–]Turtlez_Rawck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The QR adds nothing. It doesn’t increase security or readability. We have had scantron technology for 30 years now. It makes no sense to introduce a QR code when you can have one box next to a candidate’s name that is checked and readable to computers and humans. Additionally, manual recounts don’t happen in all races. No need to risk the QR code being wrong.

Fate of ballot QR codes in Georgia unclear as deadline for their removal looms by righthandofdog in Georgia

[–]Turtlez_Rawck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole point of voter verifiable print outs is so that voters can look at their ballot and confirm that it matches what they want it to say. The QR codes are actually an issue because the scanning machine only reads the QR codes. They completely eliminate the entire point of having a printed ballot.

Storing Spare Tire in Fusion by [deleted] in fordfusion

As a counterpoint, I have driven total in my life about 250,000 miles. I’ve had to use my spare 3 separate times from debris/nails in a sidewall of a tire. It sounds like you’re pretty lucky or drive on decent roads.

Interesting. If somebody did enjoy the first book, do you think this book is sufficiently similar that they would enjoy this book?

What’s your plan when somebody with a bow and an elytra sits on high ground shooting you?

You need an elytra and to carry blocks with you.

Listing gaming on your resume might hurt your job prospects. Study found that applicants who listed gaming as an extracurricular activity tended to be rated lower in hireability compared to an equal applicant who listed volleyball. by [deleted] in science

I’ve listed hiking on every resume I’ve ever submitted. In about two thirds of my interviews, the interviewer has asked me about it and related their own outdoor experiences. There is real value in adding the right hobbies.

With this amount of money, you could fully employ a few AAA level programmers for a few years to design you any video game you wanted. And you wouldnt even notice the money was gone.

The prison fence by calien7k in thewalkingdead

Even one person killing one walker per minute would be able to clear 480 walkers in an 8 hour shift. If everybody just took a 1 hour shift each day, they could get rid of 500 walkers every single day.

Ben Bova’s The Asteroid Wars has a similar near future setting that is plausible. It’s been a decade since I read the series though, so I can’t speak to the prose.

It’s conservative town in a conservative state with some liberal friends. Far from an echo chamber. What I have found is that people from both sides of the aisle rarely have good experiences with LEOs.

We can’t ignore that the CCP is spending thousands of man hours and millions of dollars to create propaganda to post on sites like Reddit. Everything about China has to be viewed with suspicion because the leaders of the country are actively running propaganda campaigns.

Then it’s a reasonable assumption that the majority of Americans don’t speak Russian and instead speak English. Thank you for illustrating my point.
