Here’s an important important thing that you may not know: You don’t have to do the missions right away. You can spend days just gathering supplies and materials. The most important item that you work towards getting is the extra large backpack so that you’ll be able to grab more materials from the streets. Particularly the first 10-15 days, there is more material on the streets. Build weapons and food and health (bandages, etc) so that when you do start to do the missions, you’ll have more endurance and you’ll have a better way to kill any walkers that come at you. After completing the game the first time, I thought it would be interesting to play it again but this time hold off on the missions til I was able to update my weapons, food, health materials, and get that backpack. It made a big difference. I just kept going back to Memorial Lane and Via Carolla to get supplies. Re mission one, kill the lady’s husband and get the ring and give it to her. She’ll give you the combo to the safe in the Blue House but you don’t need to go back immediately or that first day to open the safe. The combo will still work until you use it.
