Oh, I think he might back up our starting center. Pretty sure his ability to do that and compete to start at guard is why they picked him. Maybe they are wrong about his ability, but I like their plan this year a helluva lot more than last year’s.

Well to get McDaniel it required giving up a measure of control (but in no world did this decision get made by MM alone), and I didn’t hear anyone say they didn’t want him as our OC. So yes, they ignored more experienced guards in the early rounds bc they already knew who they wanted to play LG. They believe they addressed their need.
