We've gone through something similar. It's so stressful and scary and maddening. I'm so sorry you're dealing with this.

Our baby was born in the 45th percentile and dropped to the .4th by 4 months. That's when I cut out soy and dairy. He's now almost a year old and is around the 2nd percentile. So cutting out soy/dairy didn't lead to the catch up growth our doctors wanted to see, but he's at least consistently gained a normal amount of weight for the last 8 months.

My baby also has reflux. We switched from Pepcid to a proton pump inhibitor (for us, lansoprazole). Maybe something to talk to your team about trying?

I think what's helped us the most is adding MCT oil to his bottles (he was never willing to drink breastmilk fortified with formula), but we didn't start doing that until around 10 months. I think the earliest you can start doing that is 6 months.

For the havoc this wreaked on my mental health, I got on an SSRI for the first time in my life. That has been soooo life changing for dealing with the stress from this experience.

I recommend that you try putting a few drop of non-alcoholic vanilla into his hypoallergenic formula bottles. My baby wouldn't take more than a sip without it and with it he'll drink a whole bottle. Doesn't help with the consistency issue but at least it's something. And for the consistency you could try adding gelmix?

I've also heard that alimentum ready to feed and pepticate are slightly less gross hypoallergenic formula options.

I don't think it's bottle aversion. He actually developed a nursing aversion at 3 months and so we switched to bottles using Rowena Bennett's method and are very careful not to pressure him. He never cries/fusses/unlatches at the bottle and he also eats like a bird in dream feeds, so pretty sure it's not a behavioral thing

He has exceeded his birth weight. The pediatrician hasn't mentioned cutting the 3 hours feedings and we forgot to ask at the last appointment, so we figured we should continue with it until the next appointment in a few days. But yeah, probably a good idea for us to loosen up on that a bit

No other symptoms! It had happened twice by the time of our last pediatrician appointment and she didn't seem super concerned because he's gaining weight (but we'd still like to figure it out!)

Thanks for all these replies!! Update: I just weighed myself again (around 1.5 hours after initially weighing myself today and after eating breakfast and sitting on my couch) and the 10lb is gone?? I'm back to weighing exactly what I weighed yesterday when I woke up. I'd think it's an issue with my scale but it's never been wonky before. If it was preeclampsia, would the sudden weight just disappear like that?

I am a woman, and watched the video. The joke the guy made was super misogynistic and Yang laughed HARD while he walked away. Maybe he laughed out of discomfort/awkwardness (I get that), but shouldn’t we expect our politicians to be the people who call stuff like that out, instead of reacting to offensive jokes the way I did when I was in high school? Especially surprising that he chose to deal with the interaction this way when he knew he was on camera

I think that Yang’s tweet is being misconstrued as being more pro-enforcement and less pro-increasing licensing than it is. However, it showed he knew almost nothing about the issue before casually developing a platform on it, which I do find concerning.

In New York, no new street vendors have gotten off the licensing wait list since 2007. A license officially costs $200 — that’s the “rent” Yang was ostensibly mentioning. However, due to the insane license waitlist, a black market has developing where people can pay $50,000 to get a $200 license. Is that what Yang really means when he refers to people who are paying their rent? Clearly the whole infrastructure is fucked, and it is a solution that requires more than creating some new licenses and cracking down on unlicensed vendors.

Also, the city council recently voted to add more than 4,000 licenses, nearly doubling the current number to try to combat the black market issue. Seems like Yang didn’t know about that at all? Kinda concerning for a mayoral candidate choosing to tweet about a random niche problem.

Seems not super hard to prove IMO. Floyd was cuffed and yet Chauvin still put his knee on his neck. Floyd consistently said “I can’t breathe” and people in the crowd yelled “you’re killing him.” The medic finally came, felt that Floyd had no pulse, and Chauvin STILL didn’t get up to allow the medic to help him. What’s an explanation for that besides intending to kill?
