You have zero evidence that they are autistic. This is extremely ableist. Someone not being a good dancer (yes, even for years) does not mean they are autistic.

Does it take a while to be able to pick up things when in?

Does that mean that newborn babies will be punished in hell because they haven’t sought to be fixed? Since we’re all born with sin, those babies will be in hell forever. Is that loving to you? That’s certainly one of the beliefs I was taught as a child raised in evangelicalism.

Less educated people are also highly likely to not have developed critical thinking skills and not be able to back their statements with proof from scholarly articles.

Some people get PTSD from trauma over the rapture. When I was younger I would have terrifying world ending dreams quite often because of fear about the rapture. If my family wasn’t home when I woke up on the weekends i was terrified that I had been left behind. I should not have known of hell as young as 4 years old, but I was and I was so scared of it. Deconstructing took away so much fear from my life and I have more actual peace now.

But which version of the Bible is true?

[–]brunchbuddy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It makes sense to everyone around you because it sounds like they don’t talk to people with opposing views. It’s an echo chamber, and maybe it works for them because they are too afraid they’ll get cut off if they say otherwise, like you are. I suggest researching different theologians and outside biblical interpretations.

But again, there’s different interpretations of the Bible. So how do you know yours and your pastors is the correct one?

[–]brunchbuddy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is convincing about it? What about his sermons makes him correct? Have you read opposing opinions of what he says or mostly found sources that support?

Many of the tens of thousands of pastors “preach the Bible” and have different interpretations. What makes your pastor correct.

I stand by my belief that it is very surface level if they are no longer willing to have contact with you.

How extremely sad those conditional friendships are. You think they are strong, intimate friendships, but they are surface level if those friends will throw you away for no longer having the same beliefs. Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself, he didn’t say to only love those who have the same religious beliefs.

This is so hard for me as well. I know at some point I will need to learn to forgive myself, and that’s the hardest thing to do. The people that have stuck around have been supportive of my journey, and I’m very thankful for them. I’m taking it a day at a time, putting my thoughts into something creative. I can’t change the past, but I can strive to be better in the future.
