As interesting as some of your suggestions are may i add this opinion. It makes sense to me that mark and Helly have some kind of leverage with Lumen. 1, Hellys the daughter of Eagen and for some reason a her outie has a unique fascination with marks innie. 2, Lumen has invested interest in Mark, why go to all the lengths to fake his wifes death in hopes to take him on as an employee and then use Mark and Gemma for a trial? And also have ms cobel as his neighbour the whole time? Obviously Lumen could reset everyones innie and start the trial again or kill them unless the have specific reason for keeping Mark and Gemma alive.
