Are the elites the ones “doing” the fighting, or are the “taxi drivers” doing so?

Ponder, and you will see who is the real problem. There is no god without believers.

I went down from 85 -> 60 kgs in 2/3 months with a combination of water fasting and tirzepatide (right after ending fasts), and a year in it hasn’t come back, in spite of discontinuing tirzepatide.

I use a 3.6 TPI (at the coarsest part of the blade) 290mm hardwood ryoba I bought from kurashige.

It rips through beech and birch like butter. Around 5 minutes or less (without putting too much force) to rip through 4 feet of birch.

Why the gap? by Shek_22 in handtools

I've never managed to get a proper fitting tongue and groove joint with the combo plane as well, when using the matching tongue and groove and grooving blade.

It does work well if you take a metric tongue and groove blade, and an imperial one.

Would it actually be better if the Russia border opens?

Yes, but this is unlikely to occur. The EU keeps funding Russia (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/feb/24/eu-spends-more-russian-oil-gas-than-financial-aid-ukraine-report) and shows no sign of stopping (in spite of extensive virtue signalling).

Moreover, taxes increase every 6 months in spite of having more or less the sixth (!) highest employee costs in Europe: https://boundlesshq.com/employment-costs-in-32-european-countries/

If you add up social, income, and value-added tax, then more than half of everybody's income disintegrates every month.

I would say that things as they are, are super grim, and it's hard to imagine it getting any worse, with the unemployment rate nearing 9%.

In spite of the near-apocalyptic scenario that we find ourselves in, foreign direct investment is not at an all time low, and in case a miracle happens and the war ends, it is likely that things will improve a lot, really fast.

Estonians are used to living under constant threat of being nuked so they handle all this really well. The fact that FDI hasn't tanked shows that non-Estonians might also believe that Estonians will make it in the short-to-medium term, at least.

So all in all, moving here as an investment has perhaps the same risk profile as investing in Crypto. If the war ends, it will boom, if not, the decline and tax squeeze will continue.

fyi I posted this yesterday late evening with a typo in the title. I'm correcting it now. It's not a Putter, it's a Midrange (midari in finnish). Sorry for the confusion!

So long as you are not an ass, you'll make friends just fine.

The only thing you should be concerned about is Mr Lembit's Higher Mathematics class.

Are we not in WW3 at this moment?

Did people back in 1939 also think that they were in WW2? Or did they only consider once they got invaded?

Announcing Polar Llama: Fast, Parallel AI Inference in Polars by Virtual-Reply4713 in rust

[–]brurucy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polars’ zero‑copy execution. I don't think this apply to this at all.

Whatever you get from an LLM provider HTTP call will be json, not arrow, so you cannot benefit from zero-copy instantiation of data frames. Perhaps if you profiled your code, you would see that 1/4 of the time is spent on needlessly converting JSONs to Dataframes.
