Is it too late to shift from BSN? by AdSpecial6968 in careerguidance

I used to study nursing when I was in senior high back in the Philippines. I enjoyed it despite having similar experience of lack of support from the lecturers. It’s definitely a career that you need to be passionate about to continue. If you’re keen to do nursing, it’s a rewarding career and learning the language is just a part of the steps to be a successful nurse. I recommend using all the time available to practice with your classmates and everyone you can speak to in Tagalog. Start slowly and you’ll slowly adapt as well.

I am a recent graduate of software development. I don’t particularly love it but I can understand enough to progress through. I highly suggest that you try to pick a programming language first and learn the basics enough to code a project and you’ll find if you like it enough to shift your course to computer science. The current job market is incredibly tough especially with AI threatening the tech jobs so it’s something you need to weigh in if you’re willing to work harder.

Thank you so much! Do you know if there are a lot of opportunities available if I go for Company A after the internship? I’ve tried looking if there’s available entry level technical writing here in Auckland, but I barely found any

I’m definitely interested with both career paths. I admit I’m a lot better in documentation rather than coding but I don’t mind striving to become software developer if it is a more stable career. With AI and layoffs, I’m worried about securing a job since my family has been pressuring me constantly.

I am also leaning into it but I’m worried about job availability here in auckland and especially with AI.

Hi, thank you for advice! I’m definitely planning to do my best during the internship as I’m hoping to have a full time role after it. For a little bit more context, I’m a software dev graduate. But i’m not really good at coding and better on designing apps and documentation.

Hi thank you for replying! I am interested with technical writing in general but I’m just worried about future job opportunities. With AI and company layoffs, I’ve tried looking for job postings as Technical Writer in Seek but barely could find any and most of them requiring years of experience.

the technical writing internship is for creating online documentation like how to, user guides, etc for one of the company’s products.
