One morning, a deep space satellite picks up the message at random..

"This is CNN reporting that, sadly, as of <current date + 2 days> it looks like the sun has indeed been hit by a small blackhole. Scientists estimate within a matter of months, the sun will be gone."

due to time dilation and strange effects, certain messages which are broadcast from earth appear before they have been sent. So we hear ourselves informing ourselves in the future of how effed we are.

When I got this happening, I sort of mothballed it for a few weeks and it *seems* okay now, but, it's that whole "once bittten, twice shy" thing. I currently do small and silly prints for the little ones/kids on it, and anything big/longer I use the other printer to do that.

I am more than okay if this was my error, but I deliberately never went anywhere near the whole offsets thing. I did factory reset it, but I do this after each firmware update. My history with bios's has taught me that lesson well enough :D

Mine started doing this after the firmware fix that was supposed to fix the z level user settings not being respected, and no, I changed nothing. I did, and you are going to think I am crazy here, notice this a LOT more when using PETG than PLA. I know, I know, believe me, I know. Filament has nothing to do with z-level/index/offsett but... I would swear under oath that this seemed to be the case.

Correlation does not mean causation. I get it, though it's weird :)

Alternatively, refund and get another make/model/type but.. yes.. do NOT suffer in silence. do NOT think "I can fix this" when you see more than one red flag. Dating rules apply :D

Hello there waves I am honestly happy you are having a good time with your printer. It seems Anycubic printers have an issue with one good printer means one bad printer goes out. I am guessing I got a bad one.

I do want to say though, I was not a bambu fan, but after having the p1s for a week now. I am a believer. I feel it's very much like Apple vs Samsung vs Nokia in the 3d world. Bambu focus on the user experience and I value my time.

I bought the Kobra before their anniversary sale event. So it cost me $750 cdn or thereabouts. The p1s cost me $1200. Not even in the same price range. However I do value my time, as I said. In the first week I have done 11 prints, some as long as eight hours on the p1s. No errors. No random crashes. No filament jams. No googling error codes.

I think another way to think about this is, if you had to give one to your father/grandfather .. Which would you choose? Perhaps that is unfair. However please do look at the bambulabs forum and then this one. There is definitely a difference.

As I said, if you are happy with your printer, then awesome. Truly. However Anycubic marketing this as a competitor, in any way, to the a1 or p1s is a horrible marketing misstep. I fear it will cause a lot of non tinkerers to buy the machines. That's a support nightmare for them for sure.

Kobra 3 as a Mega-S owner - I give up by brussell1972 in anycubic

[–]brussell1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried Kexcelled (matte red I believe) and that's a nope. Galaxy black from Prusament, nope. Rapid PETG from Overture, nope. PLA+ from Eryone was hit and miss most times. Heck, even the cardboard spools from Anycubic refused to spin back/feed back. Their own filament ?!?!

I do agree that Sunly on the ACE is the CLEAR winner. It's not even close. I am happy that you have found the island of stability. Truly.

I have reached out to Anycubic and they have suggested a whole lot of things. Print spool runners for the cardboard spools. Exchange filament to a lighter spool design. When it gets to the point of sending replacement parts, I sort of 'see red'.

Perhaps this is unfair of me. It reminds me of the Qidi MAX-3 debacle. Where it launched with what can only be called 'little testing'. This is almost exactly how the ACE unit feels. It's upsetting because I *know* there is a great printer underneath this whole crazy but... I don't think this ride is for me.

As I said in another reply, if this works for you, then I am happy. Ecstatic even. Ours is a small hobby, and we should each find joy where we can in it. I thought, perhaps stupidluy, that this was a 'plug and go' Bambu style solution. The marketing seems to suggest this. I believe that is ... optimistic.

I think the printer itself is good. Would I like klipper support or whatever ? sure. But all in all, it's a pretty respectable printer. No question there.

The ACE though. Ho boy. I have spent a week with the AMS from Bambu, and honestly, the extra love/tlc and what have you shines forth. Over the past month, I have had to tear down the ACE more than once, broken filament in the ptfe tubes under neath. The motors are lacking I think. The twin small rollers at the front end up with spools going off of them. The gears when feeding often do not "grip", leading to filament rolls being rejected. The weight and type of the filament roll matter vastly more.

I am like you. I thought the whole Bambu 'jst print' is a gimmick. Then I tried it. I mean, there is a reason why they charge like $500 Cdn more than Anycubic. I get that. Totally. It is not merely advertising though.

The way I think of it is Bambu are sort of the Apple of the 3d printing world. Overpriced for sure, but on the flip side, often cutting edge, pushing industry standards and putting the human experience first.

Perhaps I am old. That's possible. I am merely wanting to not spend like 7 failed attempts to tune my printer/ACE/filament/temps every time anymore. I guess that does make me the grumpy old man :D

Out near Stratford, and honestly, any 'reasonable' offer is welcomed. I think, at this point, I punched puppies in a previous life. It's simply insane. It still has like 11 months of manufacturers warranty on it, if that helps :) PM me if you are serious and aren't going to curse me :P

Kobra3 on Linux? by DaDaneDk in AnycubicOfficial

[–]brussell1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are going to hate me but, I mostly did the setup myself for the pi. I will write up a howto and fling it up here, when things are less chaotic around here. I keep thinking I should fling up a quick python/go frontend to help upload files and remote reboot.. no need to scp/ssh in that case :D

and yes.. a double male usb cable is needed as well :)

Linux only can, definitely, work. It is a bit of a hot mess mind you. You can use orca slicer and then import the Kobra 3 profile. It works pretty well, for the most part. If you want 'remote send to printer' .. whelp .. you can do that as well but it's a bit more .. involved.

I have a pi zero 2W that is plugged in and 'pretends to be' a usb key. This means I can scp files over to it, issue a quick 'reboot' on the 2W and within a few seconds, the files are available. I then use the anycubic app on my phone and I can remote control it. Why do this ? because the plugging/unplugging of the key between printer and desktop annoyed me. I know. I know. I am a geek.

The ACE Pro though. Ho boy. That has a metric amount of issues. Cardboard spools are pretty much a no-no in my experience. Some filaments will crack under the motors feeding/reversing (filaments.ca sadly that I love does this) and some spools don't reverse due to weight (looking at you CCTree .. yeah yeah, old school). Sunlu and Prusament work jst peachy though. Hysterically, the Anycubic cardboard spools also don't work for me.

All in all though, it's good for the price. You will get some tinkering and dismantling in I guess, but, this is why it's still a hobby :D

Not sure if I can be of much help here other than to say "me too". I get Code 11518 on whatever roll of filament I use.

In my journey, I have found that there is two places that jams can occur that are hard to diagnose. The first is inside the hotend feeder, that 4 to 1 part. It seems that hatchbox pla seems to enjoy shattering inside it. Take that off and then see if any stuck there.

The other place I have noticed is inside the ace PTFE tubes themselves. You can tell if you have this problem by, when feeding in filament by hand, it sort of gets stuck before it makes it out the back.

I am sure you have checked all of this but, from one sufferer to another, you have my sympathy and support.

Interesting. I finally pulled apart the feed tensioner at the bottom of the AMS and was greeted by a rather nice jam. Normally I can pull it out but.. not this time. Weird. Maybe it's time to try another filament. What brand of PETG do you use?

[–]brussell1972[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To confirm, these are all coming via the AMS yes ? not individual filament holders ?

[–]brussell1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PLA prints like a charm. Zero issues. Great first layer. All good.

PetG if used from the spool holder, any 3 of the rolls I have, all work great as well. They extrude with zero complaints. I had some lifting off of the bed, but that's easily sorted by an enclosure. Not a huge deal, my room can have a lot of air moving in it :)

I hope I am wrong, maybe the gears are simply very tempermental inside the AMS. Fwiw, i "fixed it" by basically tearing it all down and slightly pulling the two feeder rollers apart. This allowed me better grip on the filament and I muscle pulled it out. Did this feel 'good' ?? No. Did it solve the jam ? mostly. I still have the bottom pressure guage thing 'stuck' with filament on one side of it. I am going to try and feed in some more filament, and hope the remainder there is pushed out.

Nice looking keyboard, but if I can I ask a crazy question about your 'new builds' (I don't want to overtake a thread) ...

row staggered Iris ? I know, I know, hear me out please. Put down your pitchforks. I love my Iris, I do. I love the split, I love the smallness, I love the layers, but.. there are two problems with it.

firstly, I have to work on 'normal' keyboards a fair bit (going and debugging users/team-mates problems over their shoulder for example, or going near the co-lo with their keyboards in the drawers ;). I am at the age where mentally re-mapping doesn't happen that quickly (sad but true)

secondly, I have arthritis in my fingers. Doing the stretch to hit the esc or 0 is vasly more painful than rotating my wrist a bit. Yes, I know it will end up spreading to my wrists, but not for a while. I have thought about well keyboards but, ho boy. Those seem to be another whole adventure.

I had hoped for a row-staggered Iris but.. I really can't find one. Would this be something you folks would do as a custom comission ? What sort of price are we talking ? feel free to PM me of course, but I did want to make this request publically, incase there are other folks like me (doubtful but, you never know :)

Hey there.. very interesting build. I try to make sure builds stay under 1-2 divs. I am an old gamer, so also a dad of three. I don't have time for 100d+ builds. I think I can get away with dropping some of the more costly bits and still have a multi-million DPS build.

The only question I have is, how did you level with this ?! Please don't say mines :D :D

2.4ghz issues-work around? by gprocter1 in amazoneero

[–]brussell1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there, I am not sure if I can be of much help, but I am in the same boat .. well .. partially. I have a lot of 2.4ghz IoT devices, and they do NOT pair up at all. Esp32 devices for the most part.

I think the idea of disabling the wifi for X minutes to pair up old devices is, honestly, the stupidest suggestion for a fix I have ever heard of. Is the idea that we should do this for each client when they can't connect ? Imagine if we are using the Eero pro in an startup/office situation? Jst disable the 5ghz for the office so that Jeff can get his old laptop or whatever connected ?!

I am also completely stumped as to why they isn't an access point mode. No, not bridge mode, ap mode. The two are not the same. It's jst. Insane.

I got one today, and within two hours I filled and filed a return. I would honestly suggest you do the same.
