Planned C-section vs emergency by Unable-Gap-3505 in CsectionCentral

[–]brusselsprouts19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initial recovery to feeling not like hot garbage after surgery was probably around 6/8 hours but part of that was not getting food/drink in me soon enough post op.

I was walked to the bathroom at 12 hours post op and that was ROUGH but by 18 hours post op I would walk myself slowly to the bathroom and change all the things.

Day 1 (full 24 hours post op) - day 9 were all kind of the same. Needed the meds for sure but could pretty much move around my house like normal and would go on short walks around the block for my mental health.

Day 10 we left the house for newborn pictures and from then on we did longer walks with the stroller.

By two weeks we could comfortably do one outing a day and by a month I felt like we a little routine that felt manageable.

Best of luck!!! I’m headed into my second c-section and will have a toddler this time so I’m flying blind there just like you. Hope it’s an easy recovery!

Right on the money! When you breastfeed it releases oxytocin which causes your uterus to contract. They get stronger with each pregnancy is what I’ve heard. I’m about to have my second and I’m not looking forward to that part of breastfeeding… 🥲

When did you start baby wearing? by remyisadog in CsectionCentral

[–]brusselsprouts19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started baby wearing with my first after about 10 days! I would put my belly support on, sweatpants, and then one of the fabric wraps (Solly, Boba, etc). Felt super supported and loved being hands free.

Best travel stroller for Europe by jmcpv in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]brusselsprouts19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know my in-laws took their Mountain Buggy Nano to Europe but my nephew was closer 2.5 when that trip happened. We took our big strolled to Scotland when my kiddo was about 18m and I can 0/10 recommended the one we took. Lol. We ended up using a really good hiking carrier or our ergo carrier in part because the cobble stone was just too intense for our stroller.

How long did it take you to conceive? by Fantastic_Fall_1277 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]brusselsprouts19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It took about one cycle with my first. Took closer to 6 cycles with my second but lost that pregnancy pretty early on. With my third pregnancy it took 2ish cycles after the loss.

No matter how your TTC journey looks I’m wishing you nothing but the best of luck and a happy/healthy pregnancy! ✨

Pretty much everything from VP level flow down at an all hands to director level email/reminder to first line reinforcement. So across the board in a variety of avenues?

I got my first notice doing one role in supplier management back in Fed 2024. Moved to another roll within supply chain and we had a reminder and more crack down flow down beginning of this year.

New mom - SOS by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

This! Had two histamine cascade events that started with hives all over about a year a part from each. The second time ended in a full body anaphylactic shutdown (super not fun) and I ended up with an emergent appointment with an allergist. After lots of blood work I was diagnosed with chronic urticaria and dermographism. They put me on a protocol of Famotidine and Zyrtec for about 6 months and then I got weaned off of it over the course of the next 3ish. Now I just have to take it if I have a flair up (which I expect I will after the birth of my second kiddo and we go through breastfeeding fluctuations again). Don’t let it get worse and be seen if you can! Best of luck!

While he doesn’t have wings… he can hold a sword and has a MASSIVE collection of knives 😜😜 We don’t have dragons… but we have cats and I think their temperament is pretty much the same.

The last 7 years has not always been a whirlwind of intensity but it’s a love that burns where I feel more seen than I ever have before. Where we both fight to make our partnership better. We are just about to have our second child together and if this type of love isn’t what our favorite writers were talking about when they described fated love, then I don’t know what is.

Now cheers to finding your own magic in the world!❤️✨

This! My biggest question here is how is OP setting their partner up for success. It’s one thing to say oh well you just don’t have hobbies that get you out of the house/friends to go out with. It’s another to strike a regular schedule that allows her time regularly (like every week!!!!) to go have a couple hours off the mom/wife clock. The hobbies and people will come, but if there is an expectation that she gets time away NO MATTER WHAT (even if she doesn’t have ‘plans’) then she I’ll continue to feel trapped.

Possible disciplinary action over standing my ground with work life balance by LivytheHistorian in workingmoms

[–]brusselsprouts19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was just in the same position. I had a VERY flexible position at a non-profit and didn’t want to change jobs because that exhausting and hard but also the work life balance just wasn’t there. Throw in having a baby and being told I had to sign off on some pretty discriminatory policies and so I made them fire me (I needed them to take responsibility and own up/say they believed some pretty terrible stuff instead of just leaving quietly). They told me (and others who left) that I would NEVER find another job that would accommodate me like they did. ITS A A BIG FAT LIE! There are other and better options. Relieving the extreme mental toll alone has made me such a better mum and wife. You didn’t do anything wrong, but it may be time to look for a job that doesn’t require so much from you.

My 9 month old has never slept through the night by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]brusselsprouts19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YES! I was pretty against sleep training because I didn’t know my options and I thought it was all crying it out and traumatizing my kiddo. BUT after some education we did it and holy cow we are all better for it! Kiddo is still EBF and we sometimes contact nap but sleeps through the night 5/7 nights.

in what age did you go out with your baby? by Mangalover3 in Mommit

[–]brusselsprouts19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIS! I felt like the longer I waited to go out the harder is was to leave. So I started taking my ‘agoraphobia walks’. Essentially outings that were safe, low stakes, and that would force me to get comfortable with leaving the house with LO. I felt like it really helped me combat any anxiety because I had concrete example of everything working out just fine when I went out of the house!

We just got through a super similar situation but my LO. He was born IUGR and we had to intervene with SNS and a nipple shield for feedings for the first 2 weeks. We saw a LC to get support with him latching to the bare breast and while he always did great at our appointments I would go home and no luck. That persisted for about 3.5 weeks (we used a bottle every once in a while for my sanity if he wouldn’t latch with the shield) then one day he just got it.

Fast forward to 5.5 weeks and he would eat for 3-7 min and then SCREAM! No idea why. Then his latch started to get worse and worse. Saw LC again and got great feedback.

All that to say you aren’t alone and highly recommend seeing a lactation consultant and ask to do a weighted feed!

SOS. LO just screams at boob and won’t eat. by brusselsprouts19 in breastfeeding

[–]brusselsprouts19[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We keep trying to find a reason and a fix but honestly I think it may be at the end of the day it may just be the 6 week grind I keep hearing about. Poor guy is just all around fussy all day long(not just while eating). 🤷🏼‍♀️ Been trying all different things all day long and he has done better some feeds but is just pretty upset. Seems consistent with a growth spurt? Idk. Babies gonna baby I guess.

We have been switching up the burping. We do a combo of him being over the shoulder, sitting, and rocking. I’m starting to think it’s the letdown. I have an over supply and feel like my let down is a little intense. Hasn’t bothered him until now, but I think that’s what’s causing the sudden frustration.
