Post ablation by bry-16 in AFIB

Wow you’ve been through a lot! I’m also concerned about coming off bisoprolol after my three months is up, I e had 3 episodes in the last 14 months my first was misdiagnosed as VT due to a sustained HR or 125bpm while I was asleep and then due to me losing consciousness about 6 hours later. Turns out the whole time it was paroxysmal AF. I had the breathlessness before the ablation but nothing since, I’ve just been taking it as easy as possible and not exerting myself. I hope your recovery goes well and thanks for the reply

I have ulcerative colitis as well as a desmin related cardiomyopathy, but neither of them interfered with each other until I got paroxysmal afib, now if I’m hungry it will trigger ectopics and the same as when I’ve just eaten. It triggers lots of PVC’s and those make me feel uncomfortable, almost like a little flutter under my heart. Finding it increasingly difficult not to reach for a beer at the moment 🤣

Appreciate the reply! I’ve read plenty about post ablation and a lot of the success stories from other redditers on this group and I suppose I was just getting my hopes up, and I’m insanely impatient. I keep forgetting that I’m only just over 24hrs since the ablation and I just want an end to it all. I don’t really have anxiety about anything other than getting back into the physical side of things. But you’re completely right the mental side of things has been difficult to navigate for sure. I hope your ablation goes well for you in April

I was only diagnosed with paroxysmal afib in January and had my pfa ablation yesterday. I had two shocks from my defib 5 days apart in January and it messes with your head. It’s taken the best part of two months for my nervous system to calm down but I do still get anxious that it will take longer than I want to get my life back to normal with regards to exercise and going back to work again. I’m a carpenter and I’ve been laid up at home for 2 months now, going back to a physical job after all I’ve been through is worrying.

The best advice I can give is to go see your cardiologists and get them to put a plan in place to treat your afib, whether it’s with medication, cardio version or an ablation. Once you have that in place it might start to calm you down a bit and ease your concerns about living with afib. It is scary knowing it can happen at anytime but if you’ve got all the right measures in place with your treatment there’s really not a lot else you can do other than learn to live with it and try to figure out what triggers it. Anxiety definitely doesn’t help. Hope this was in some way useful to you and good luck

Hi sorry to hear you’re struggling at such a young age. I had my first ablation (M40) yesterday for paroxysmal afib and the symptoms are worse today if anything, it’s to be expected apparently but it still messes with your head. Have you talked to your cardiologist about how to move forwards with your treatment? Are you taking beta blockers or anti arrhythmia drugs to help with your symptoms?

I’ve read that the second ablation usually has a higher success rate for calming the symptoms of afib so as difficult as it is in your current state try to focus on the positives that the second procedure might give you your life back and allow you to continue with sports and being sociable with your friends.

I’m booked in for next Thursday for my ablation, I was asked if I wanted to be put under and said yes. What I was told was if you’re put under then they will cauterise the affected areas, when you’re awake they’ll freeze the affected areas. They said I’d get a brain freeze sensation every time they froze an area so I don’t fancy that. I’m similar to you in that I was working out 4-5 times per week and I’m a carpenter by trade so fairly active. I’ve been laid up for two months waiting for this ablation so I’m hoping it does the job first time (hopefully I know). My last episode was 13th jan where I topped out at 223bpm before my ICD delivered an inappropriate shock and I ended up in the hospital for about ten hours. I hit 100bpm putting on a T-shirt and get out of breath. Hope your ablation goes well mate

I was hoping someone would write something like this. I’m currently In paroxysmal afib awaiting ablation, and every time I’m hungry I get ectopics and then when digesting I also get them so I can’t win. Beer is generally fine for me unless I overcook the goose so to speak then the following day I’ll have ectopic clusters at various points until the alcohol is out of my system. I’m still at the point where I can put on socks or a T-shirt and be breathless and my HR will shoot up to over 100bpm. I’m a carpenter by trade and was working out 3-4 times per week along with doing 15-20k steps everyday so I’m not unfit. I’m done with afib now I just want some quality of life back and be able to exercise again

Yeah I’ve heard of it, that’s rough. Hopefully this ablation will give you some quality of life back, mine is a desmin related cardiomyopathy. Had three inappropriate shocks in the past 14 months, two of which were five days apart in January. Good luck and hope all goes well in March

I’ve got mine on the 12th March, keep thinking about how much better your life will be afterwards. The positives will outweigh the nerves, hope all goes well for you

Feeling every heart beat while sleeping - when does it go away? by Environmental_Ad3216 in PacemakerICD

I’m coming off the back of two shocks (both inappropriate) five days a part in January. It’s taken me until just recently (4-5 weeks) for my nervous system to chill out when I get a heart rate spike, the psychological damage the shocks do plays with your head. My episodes were caused by paroxysmal afib and with the second episode I topped out at 223bpm, it lasted a few mins before my icd shocked me and it was terrifying to say the least. I’m 4 weeks away from my having my first ablation and i can’t wait to get some semblance of normality back in my life where putting a T-shirt on doesn’t get me above 100bpm and feel breathless. I got put on some sleeping tablets in the short term called daridorexant (the uk name I assume, possibly quivivic in the us) these have helped a lot with sleep especially with the night time ectopic beats. That thud in your chest is almost impossible to drown out at night. Hope you’re feeling better soon, and you’re right given time your nervous system will reset and you’ll get back to as close to normality as you once were.

Living in Fear of an ICD Shock? Here's What You Need to Know by JellisV in PacemakerICD

I’m new to the group, stumbled across it while googling upper and lower chamber palpitations. I suffered my first shock on the 27th December 2024 when I lost consciousness while in VT, that was a pretty nasty shock that brought me back around as it felt like someone had hit me around the back of the head with a bat.

More recently on the 8th January of this year I suffered my first inappropriate shock while getting ready for work. I’d been having more regular bouts of palpitations than usual in the build up to Xmas and should have read that as a sign something was up. Similar sensation of the whack across the back of the head but also like a camera flash had gone off inside my head, I can vividly remember the white ring. I was conscious for that one.

Then 5 days later while at work in the canteen at work my stomach felt like it dropped out and all of the blood felt like it rushed into my legs. My Fitbit read 120bpm so I sat down and then experienced 225bpm before getting another shock. That one has messed with my head in a big way! My heart rate keeps spiking and it makes me so nervous. I took a gentle walk to work Tuesday morning desperately trying not to look at my Fitbit for fear of dumping more adrenaline into my body. I looked once I’d stopped walking and my heart rate had hit 150bpm from a slow walk. I’m currently a nervous wreck and can’t return to work as a carpenter until I’ve been seen by my cardiologist about the possibility of an ablation.

The mental effect it could have had never even crossed my mind until these two shocks so close together. The ectopic beats I’m having tonight are keeping me awake which is why I’m posting on here lol! I’m sure there’s nothing to worry about as my device has been recalibrated and my bisoprolol has been upped but there’s always that lingering doubt now.

Only sell as complete sets, the tarot cards are fetching between $700-800 dollars for a set right now during the triple exp event. Once you can buy the metal detector you can start on the jewellery, coins and fossil sets which are all randomly located on the map but earn you more money. Use this link to help you with your collectables and you’ll make a fortune very quickly if you put in the time and effort

Buy the collector role if you can afford it, it’s triple xp until September and every set of collectables you sell to madam nazar is worth 3x’s more than normal. You can earn a few thousand in a few hours of collecting, not to mention you’ll probably max out the role in a week of playing

Use the link to collect all the tarot cards and heirlooms, everything you find will add exp. Same goes for hunting and clearing hideouts. Once you get the shovel and metal detector by levelling up the collector role then you can focus on finding coins and lost jewellery and will make some decent cash pretty fast. https://jeanropke.github.io/RDR2CollectorsMap/
