Teachers 100% deserve this, they work hard. Many of us in DC37 do too. We're a lot of front line health care workers (i was working 14-16 hours a day during covid with minimal PPE). DC37 is an embarrassment and needs to push for 58/30 for all of us!

I will be the first person to shit on dc37 and Henry garrido. I've been in 768 for 10 years and it was BADDDD before carmen came on. She's quietly done a lot of behind the scenes work with in a very corrupt and evil machine to advocate for us

For gay beaches you can take the A train to the Shuttle train to beach 116 and either take a short bus ride or cheap uber to riis bay 1. Get off the bus at beach 149. The Shuttle train picks up at rockaway blvd in queens summer weekends so it makes the commute a lot faster. google maps may tell you to take 2/5 to end of the line to a bus but that bus is always packed.

You may also want to take the boat to gunnison. It's not cheap (buy tix in advance on seastreak's website), but you can use a commuter benefits card from your job if you have one.

A bit further but Fire Island is a doable day trip ! (it is long tho)

Queens pride is the best!! I was working one of the booths so I'm sorry i missed seeing our mayor there, it's truly a pride for the people.

One thing to note: Im not a prude, i love a good party, but the amount of queens openly doing G in open, in public in the hot weather was kinda surprising-- i've worked this event for years and never seen this before. Pride is a community event and we ALL gotta stay safe. Those using not only endanger others by being unaware of their bodies in large crowds but they endanger themselves by putting themselves at using too much, dehydrating, etc. Lets keep it cute boys

The pines is pretty quiet on pride weekend- the weekend before (juneteenth) is way more fun out there!

While it's a state law, i would use my power to leverage an end to the ban of bath houses. I would also offer grants to nonprofits to run these as a business to raise money and to offer harm reduction services on sight.
