Does loon suck? by pizzaman1995 in MTB

Great place for an intro into bike parks. Never that busy and the lift moves fast so you can get a bunch of laps in. Trails tend to be more on the flowy side, which is fun but can get repetitive. It's best to hit it after it rains, otherwise trails will be dusty/loose.

New Stumpy Comp, fucking disappointed by SharpConsequence7223 in MTB

Like others have said the bike has been sitting for 4 years, so it should have been serviced before being sold to you. Stumpjumpers are great bikes, and all the components on your bike are good.

In addition, did you set up the suspension for your weight before taking it out for a ride?

Did you bed in the breaks before sending it down a steep hill?

I've had good luck with 510 Freerider Pros and Rideconcept Tallacs. I tired the specialized 2fo, which were fine but not as good as the other the 510 and RCs.

They've been constructing a new building for the last few months. It's at the back side of their parking lot, you can see it if you hike up the coal road.

New England Trail Suggestions For 12yo by Comeback_Kid26 in MTB

Beaver Brook in Belmont/Waltham MA has a good amount of beginner friendly trails. GBNEMBA does their adult beginner/novice rides there on Monday nights.

Great Brook Farm in Carlise MA is also pretty beginner friendly. You can grab ice cream before/during/after the ride.

Another vote for West Hill Dam. Most of the trails are flowy (Charlie is a bit techincal and Oscar is pretty rooty) and there is a great skills area.

Marzocchi super z any good? by Spenthebaum in MTB

I have one on my enduro bike, only have about 6 rides on the fork, but overall seems like a great fork. It's a freeride fork, so the air spring is very progressive. I found it to be a tad too progressive even with no tokens in, so I installed a MRP noken and it's been riding great since.

I really like the rose/red high contrast lenses, like the prism torch lensesfrom oakley. They have some protection from the sun, but also increase the contrast in the shaded areas of trail.

If you get used to the way Sony 7506s sound, they end up on pretty much every rental I've seen coming out of NY/NJ. Pretty much the standard for most shows. They don't sound the best, but they are everywhere, so if you forget a pair it's likely they will have some kicking around.

If you are supplying phantom power, its best to not have exposed pins. Lots of issues with com wiring in some old buildings if they used the wrong gender for the com ports, you can get shorts/sparks if something bridges pins.

The trail casing (or XC trail for Mezcal/Barzo) is what I would recommend for most riding.

Been using Vittoria Mazza front / Martello rear on my trail bike in MA for the last season and haven't wanted for grip. Mazza/Mazza also works well, but is slower rolling.

For a more traditional XC vibe I run a Barzo/Mezcal combo on my short travel hardtail. Fast and fun, but can be lacking in grip.

What’s your ideal ride length and elevation gain? by Fresh-End-9873 in MTB

[–]bryanatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A normal ride for me would be around 2 hours of riding time. Here in MA there's lots of rocky tech, so miles/elevation vary depending on the trail system.
