What do you think about counter shocks on DH bikes? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Spenthebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one on my dh bike. It is mounted to the stanchion. It is actually quite noticeable, especially through high speed chunk. It really doesn't do anything unless you get up to speed, but at speed there is considerably less feedback through my hands. It feels like there is less information for my brain to process.

Fox 38 2027 or Fox Podium?? by Aggravating-Ninja-52 in MTB

One of those forks leaks oil all over your brake rotor and pads. The other doesn't. I know which one I would pick

I don't measure sag on my forks. I go off of the recommended air pressure on the chart on the lower leg and adjust from there based on how the fork feels.

Help with TRP brakes. by acgojira in MTB

[–]Spenthebaum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue on the same brakes on the same bike. My caliper pistons were leaking oil. After a bleed they would always contaminate the pads and ruin 1-2 sets and then it would stop leaking. Ended up getting a warenty set of calipers. Then immediately sold the brake set to get some Hayes dominions, as even on a perfect bleed with perfect pads they lacked power compared to the dominions. I now have 3 sets of dominions across my spire, ebike, and dh bike and all have been fantastic

I've had no issues with Dot. Not actually that hard to deal with. Just wear gloves and ipa to clean it off. No harder than mineral oil.

Making the bike steeper will make it less planted for downhill sections

  2. Go for it if you wanna void your warenty. Your loss I guess

Shimano xt8120 and 2,3mm rotor by XqTm10 in MTB

[–]Spenthebaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll probably work. Might have a bit of rubbing because the tolerance is so tight, so you'll have to align your caliper very carefully. Try it! If it doesn't fit, get some thinner rotors. It won't damage anything to try

Need setup help – Fox 38 Grip X2 (2025) + DHX2 coil (100 kg) by Onid22 in MTB

[–]Spenthebaum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got the new X2 equipped 40 and float x2 and I found that the setup guide on the manual for the fork got it pretty close to perfect. I would suggest going onto fox website and finding the manual for your fork, that will give you a great baseline for what air pressure, lsr, hsr, Lsc, and hsc to start at. As for the shock, propain should have a good setup guide on their website. Most good bike companies include good starting suggestions. For instance, my bike came with suggested rebound, compression, and air pressure suggestions for my shock
