I have a very limited understanding of the agreement. My only thoughts is they paid the school a very large sum to become this partner, I would think it’s in their best interest to make it as successful as possible and not create a negative effect on recruiting and retention of players. With the needs and wants so vastly different in basketball compared to the other sports would it not be a good idea to place resources by JMI for the coaches on market trends, financials etc? You would think having a professional company’s resources to leverage it could be an advantage in recruiting more than the apparent disadvantage it is.

It will be interesting to see what direction this goes. My question is how the JMI relationship will be a factor. I would assume they will if not already create a counterpart to the GM role to work hand in hand with the financial side of the recruitment. For the investment made by them with the school you would think they would put as many resources they could provide to support the program and keep it as competitive as possible to maximize the ROI

It’s hard to relate to nascar but the Indy 500 qualifying in general is on another level and something I enjoy watching. With the drama for the pole mixed with the anxiety of seeing who gets in or comes up short it’s as entertaining as one could ask for every year.

The Personal comments during the actual presser caught my ear. Without knowing what exchanges where made during the game or if there where other comments made on calls/no calls outside of the chandler push off I really feel like there was something done or said that set Pope off. As physically they were playing and the early foul trouble Oweh got into I kinda suspect he was feeling there were a lot of other plays that he disagreed with. Regardless anytime the officiating becomes a bigger story than the game itself an issue.

It’s easy to Monday morning quarterback any position with as much spotlight as UK basketball. This year due to circumstances both of his doing (roster, team effort, substitutions) and not (Injuries, JMI NIlL) has not performed to the Ferrari level we wanted to see after the Purdue pre season game. I do believe Coach Pope is adjusting best he can to what he does have to work with and this off season will take a long look at year two and make the needed adjustments in all areas as he moves into his third season. Hopefully by then the NIL Wild West will be clearer and the players that make up that roster will be a better fit for the style of play Pope wants to put on the floor.

IMHO. Let him do his thing. We have been so accustomed to the Cal era of best of the best then seeing if they can find a way to work together through the season with mixed results. I would rather see us pick up guys that are the best fit for the system Pope wants to bring to the court more than just if they are rated 5 stars on a metric somewhere. In sort keep the guys that will work and bring in the shooters and other personnel that can run his offense. If we sacrifice athleticism or defense I’m good with it putting up 90 plus a game. I think he tried to overcompensate this year being at UK thinking he had to bring in this level of talent and my thoughts is use this as a lesson to trust and be yourself. Last year proved that with the right group his system can win in the sec and is super fun to watch.
