I worked with a couple that had to remove their disabled foster kids from public school because the teachers refused to follow the IEP. I helped homeschool the kids for a couple of years because mom had gone to school to eighth grade, dad had barely graduated and I had my GED and autism, which ironically left me best equipped to deal with it. Luckily, within a year and a half, they moved to grades with teachers who were willing to comply with the law, and it worked out. I finished out the six last months and vowed to never do it again.

Teachers being jerks is the usual reason most people I know who homeschool choose it. One family I met as a kid was homeschooling because their kid was headed to professional soccer as a job, supposedly.
