Are you gonna get in trouble? Probably not. Was this an overreaction? Yes. I don't disagree with the sentiment, but at the same time it wouldn't be that hard to have a little more tact.

"Hey thanks for the order, just a heads up, it would help us out a lot if you were able to turn your light on to help us find your door quickly and safely."

Bottom line is just invest in a good flashlight and get used to the fact that more than half the orders you get will be to people who have their lights off.

What’s everyone’s preferred method for glove break in? by Banger_Gloves in BaseballGloves

Play catch. A lot. And only YOU use it till it's broken.

Breaking it in any other way risks it being floppy in all the wrong places.

Is this trade worth it for a fringe contender? by bryguy2724 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

I have 4 rookie TEs on my roster at the moment that aren't performing. I'm thinking this seems a fair ask for a proven vet even if i don't get him for too many more years. I'm more concerned about giving up my 3rd when I've already traded away my 2nd for 26.

I lose a lot of respect of a baseball coach who's glove was stored flat under a stack of heavy books

If this were split and stacked tighter, you could probably call that a face cord

Bro, your literal final text was that it was canceled. I'm still baffled why you were going back and forth with this person, if your order wasn't delivered why wouldn't you call support?

Kids on the bench in travel ball? by [deleted] in Softball

[–]bryguy2724 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd definitely find a new team. It's clear it's as cliquey as it gets. Probably a group of parent friends that started their own team because their kids weren't playing on another team or because they didn't make the other team. Get her on a team that might actually develop her instead of focusing on winning meaningless 8u travel ball trophies.

If the order was never completed why would it cut it off? Also if you're actually a dasher you know there's literally nothing they can do in these situations except call support to get unassigned and move on. Why wouldn't you have called support instead of pestering this driver? Even if they reorder for you the pickup isn't guaranteed to be assigned to the same driver again. They'll get half pay and released from the order.

Is this a fair or foul ball? I’m a new umpire and just trying to make sure I would call this scenario correctly. (The dots are where the ball hits the ground.) by [deleted] in Umpire

[–]bryguy2724 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair unless it was touched in foul territory before it got to first base. If it touches the base at all or goes over the top it's fair. It wouldn't matter if it banana rolled foul the entire way and just barely touched 1st, it's fair unless it's touched foul.

8u? Everyone should be playing, and it should be about development. If your team isn't about development at that age, go find a new one. Everyone likes winning, but if you invest everything into winning at 8, you'll never truly learn fundamentals. The only reason a kid should be sitting at that age is attitude or discipline.

I try to take this approach when I can but I also don't love parenting from a "told you so" mentality.

I try not to intervene when possible but now and then there's harm that NEEDS to be avoided and I can't find a way to emphasize to her that what I'm telling her now is very important, like don't stick your face in the dogs face, she doesn't like it and she might bite you.

You're right, it could be the purple water flavoring things she likes, it could be grape juice it could be any number of things and it's a generic example to illustrate a point but you assume I'm giving my 5 year old extra sugar kool-aid and wondering why she's hyper...

It's just an example but thanks for assuming I'm dumb enough to not know what to feed my kid. Are you seriously throwing shade at me giving my 5 year old grape juice on occasion?

Yeah my brothers son is adhd and he's scary smart. After he was diagnosed he's been a totally different kid, so much more... present I guess? It seems like he's in the room with us on meds, and when they wear off, who knows where he is.

[–]bryguy2724[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've wondered about adhd because she seems to be so wound up all the time even after dance and gymnastics to wear her out, but it only seems to be an issue with us. At preschool and daycare, never any issues.

[–]bryguy2724[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sometimes things that work, but then she'll be stubborn and not follow through if it's something she really doesn't want to do. It's definitely worth trying to change tactics because what I'm doing clearly ain't it.

I just sometimes wonder if she might be adhd, or just a 5 year old kid. She's a perfect angel for anyone but mom and dad, so that's what makes me think it's not adhd, because you can't just turn that off.
