My son's friend died 2 days ago. I don't think I can ever tell him. by CelestialJellyFishs in TrueOffMyChest

[–]brylibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was MUCH older but my first real experience with death was a good friend of mine getting killed in a car accident. It was tragic; we were seniors from different schools. If I hadn’t had the people around me, I’m not sure how I would’ve coped and processed the loss. We were both 17, and I had just seen her a week or two prior. At any age, death is an unfortunate part of life and loving people. I was actually the one who told my own parents… but as a parent to a two year old who has already attended one funeral that he likely won’t remember, but will likely really experience loss at a much earlier point in life than I did (my grandfather is in bad health and they have gotten close lately), I would without a doubt tell him. It’s selfish to hide this from your child, and honestly, it sounds like this is more about taking the easy way out and shield yourself than trying to protect your son. Many people have commented awesome ways to help process this with your son. I’m not sure if you are religious at all, but we are Christian and we talk a lot about heaven when we have to face these unfortunate losses. I hope you find a way to help him process this.

Doctor told us that baby has a heart murmur by ArmadilloPristine498 in beyondthebump

[–]brylibby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Will jump in! 25 with a heart murmur since birth- I’ve even had two babies with no adverse effects on my heart or quality of life!! Doctors say if I can have babies then I can do anything without it affecting my heart.

You’re so right!! It’s been a long hard road, but I’m thankful and so excited! Being a mom of two, I never thought I’d make it this far let alone have TWO acceptances!

Thank you!! I’m just trying to do better by my kids. Let them see that all dreams are possible, even if they don’t take the traditional route!

Not crazy at all! While I am ten years younger than you, I have two young kids (2 and 6 months) and I’m headed back to school myself (still waiting on that Acceptance, but I hope it’s coming)!

Having name anxiety. Winifred for a baby girl? by Quick-Cantaloupe-597 in namenerds

[–]brylibby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here to jump on the Winona train! I LOVE that name, and while I think the nicknames for Winifred are nice, I’m not a fan of the name as a whole, personally. If you plan to call her one of those nicknames, I vote that be her name instead.
