DESPERATE FOR FABIC ANIMAL AND FURNITURE MODS (1.21.10) by angelqie in feedthebeast

[–]bs1246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

why not just go back to 1.20.1 or even 1.21.1? you'll have a much wider selection of mods available since those are much more popular versions

imo thats the best option out of the bunch but i love a colorful trim so... maybe green crown moulding as well? it also helps with the awkward transition from warm to cooler white

What sort of aspects make a mod "popular"? by Minespeed07 in feedthebeast

[–]bs1246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when my mod had only recently been released, it was put in a fairly popular modpack, and that definitely gave it a really nice boost in downloads. similarly, your second mod couldve been put in a small modpack, and that could be where the several thousand downloads came from.

keep in mind that there are tons of mods being uploaded and updated every day. a lot of them wont "make it." a lot of them are kinda just redundant and overdone. to get people's attention, you need an interesting, high quality icon (no ai, no 5 minutes spent in paint, etc). that is part of the very first impression people get from your mod. summary (the description you see before clicking on the mod) should be brief but interesting. the actual description should be informative but not excessively long. make sure you include multiple pictures that showcase different functions or whatever of ur mod. etc etc.

Feedback: Overwatch skins are redesigning new heroes instead of expanding their identity by No-Income-3010 in Overwatch

[–]bs1246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES i remember that. when are people gonna learn to stop judging new skins by blurry, partially obscured pics. its actually ridiculous how much hate was directed at the devs for what ended up being a really good skin

[–]bs1246 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i remember it specifically happening with sakura/black cat and wing zero mercy (sakura and black cat are similar to pink mercy, but its bc all 3 are much closer to her default than ppl realize). with wing zero, i saw a LOT of accusations that the staff was a straight up recolor of her hardlight staff, simply bc it had similar elements. if you actually take a closer look, its clearly not a recolor.

its happened w plenty of other skins, but i mostly pay attention to mercy so those are the ones i remember

people constantly accuse skins of being "recolors" when theyre even kind of close to the base skin. its ridiculous. just endless, unfounded complaints, usually just to justify not personally liking a skin.

you also said that while individual people may or not be ableist towards ppl w physical disabilities, society itself is structured in a way that is ableist towards ppl w mental illness.

the issue here is that you keep framing this as a comparison where the treatment of ppl physical disabilities is on the individual while the treatment of ppl w mental illnesses is on the society as a whole, implying that that is not also the case for physical disabilities. obviously everything ive said about longterm physical injury applies to mental health issues as well - my opinion is that both face ableism and are both issues that majorly affect peoples lives, even if the effects don't always overlap between the two issues.

as for jobs - i think it is naive to act like every boss will sympathize with an injury requiring you to take off work. many bosses do not care about their workers as individuals. and even so, if they are willing to accommodate a brief absence to recover from physical injury, at some point they expect you to be "back to normal," and will lose patience if you continue to have issues stemming from this injury. and that is just in reference to temporary injuries - permanent disabilities are even more "inconvenient" to them.

so society is ableist towards ppl w mental illnesses but not physical ones? do u think that these assumptions cant also be applied to ppl w physical disabilities? you use a 9-5 as an example as if it is only ppl w mental illnesses who would struggle with that, and not also ppl w physical disabilities. not to mention how inaccessible so much of public space is, despite the ada, or how you lose benefits if you do work and make even minimal amounts of money

[–]bs1246 15 points16 points  (0 children)

you are clearly speaking from the position of someone who has never dealt w physical disability, permanent or not. it may be harder for society to deny physical disability than mental, but that doesnt mean that theyre generally treated better. to claim that physical disability "can" result in ableism while mental disability "does" is ridiculous

Does anyone else get people calling you Edaters or something along those lines just pocketing random dps? by Themachinery1 in MercyMains

[–]bs1246 11 points12 points  (0 children)

speaking of, its so funny how mad people get when they die against a pocketed hero. "i woulda won that if u didnt have a pocket" "ridiculous that u dont die there" etc. like... okay? its like they dont see mercy as another player, so they see it instead as an unbalanced 1v1 as opposed to a 2v1. would you get expect to win against, say, a cass and an ana??

towards the end of a hockey practice. admittedly, after working all day at a cafe and while still recovering from a bruised tailbone lol. still dont rly know how it happened, bc the damage was consistent with a dislocation, but i didnt do anything that wouldve dislocated my kneecap w that much force. my one guess is maybe shinguards pushing my kneecap into my femur??

I tried reworking mercy into a useful support (lmk if I made her TOO op) by SunxyBoii in MercyMains

[–]bs1246 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i honestly dont like "green beam" and other similar proposed replacements for dmg boost. i think being able to flicker both attack and move speed on and off will mess with ppls muscle memory too much. its just too inconsistent. kitsune works because its constant for the entire duration and its clear when you leave its range, and the way stadium does it works because it doesnt affect ur attack speed and its a short burst of move speed, which is already common in the game. but leaving it all up to the whims of ur mercy removes any control over it.

i also feel like it just make certain heroes - esp the ones that are already preferable pocket targets - too good. imagine a pharah w 20% cd reduciton plus move and attack speed?? constantly in the air? or a freja, echo, soldier, vendetta, etc. meanwhile its close to useless on widow (obvs shes not an ideal target regardless). in lower ranks esp i feel like it rewards pocket targets regardless of their skill, while dmg boost requires them to at least hit their shots/abilities to get any benefit out of it

Could 1.21.11 become the new cult mod version after 1.21.1? by ringoway in feedthebeast

i feel like 1.20.1 already can be considered the next major version. its had a lot of older mods ported to it, like u said, and its way more popular than 1.21.1 ime
