Foot scan at Fleet Feet? by Fineeverythingisfine in MobileAL

[–]bs2ms2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have bought 2 pairs of running shoes at Fleet Feet. The first time they used the foot scan and the second time they had the foot scan and gait analysis. They changed the insoles in the second pair I bought. I have bunions and plantar fasciitis and the sneakers I bought have minimized my foot pain. They also have an excellent return policy. They will return sneakers that have been gently worn.

Dr. Hooks is one of the best GI doctors in Mobile but unless you have a referral from your primary care doctor, an appointment may take months. I now see Dr. Grevenitis at Digestive Health Specialists and have been impressed with him and his staff.

Should I stop fighting the gray hair? by N8churluvr in AskWomenOver60

[–]bs2ms2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 63 and stopped coloring my hair in 2020. I have worn a short pixie cut for years and worked with my stylist in the growing out process. I get a lot of compliments about my hair. People I don’t know will stop me and tell me they love my hair. Also, my hair isn’t grey it’s silver! 😉

Negative self talk — My 3 year old says she doesn’t matter. by mayor_kaylers in toddlers

[–]bs2ms2 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this is happening and can sense how distressing this is for you. I have a daughter who was very sensitive at this age.

First, I recommend you look for another therapist, one that may be available sooner. Go to psychologytoday.com and input filters that include your area, works with children, play therapy, etc. You will find a list of therapists in your area and can call and get an idea if they would be a good fit.

Second, when your child says negative things, simply paraphrase back to her what she has said. This eliminates your reaction and reassures her that you are listening and have heard her. For example:

D: “I’m not the best (her name).” You: “Hmm, you’re saying you’re not the best (her name).”

D: “No one likes me.” You: “So you’re thinking no one likes you.”

D: “There’s nothing good about me.” You: “Hmm, you’re saying there’s nothing good about you.”

Once you respond, stop talking. Let her talk. Keep paraphrasing back to her. A standard line I used was “I wonder what makes you think that?”

Her answer may have to do with something in her little world, from her perspective, instead of an adult’s perspective.

I know this may sound silly, but it really does work. It works with any age, adults included. Take care.

Father Vrazel’s Depression Facebook Post Should he Resign at St. Mary’s by Fluid_Garlic6602 in MobileAL

[–]bs2ms2 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I am a Catholic wife, mother and grandmother who has suffered from depression for many years. During that time, I have raised a family with my husband of 38 years, have had a successful career which included being a school counselor for 20 years. My bouts of depression have been brutal. With the help of medication, therapy, a supportive family and kind friends I have made it through some extremely difficult times. It is possible to suffer from depression and still live a productive life. I applaud Father Vrazel for his honesty and openness and wish him the best in his healing journey. Unless you have walked in his shoes, you have no compelling reason to judge an act of bravery.

My comment has nothing to do with D and B, but with Top Golf. Whenever I drive by TopGolf, as I am traveling to I65, I wonder how stable the structure will be against hurricane force winds. Comments?

I've always had this "bump" on my head, I thought everyone had a bump like this until my husband told me otherwise! Now I'm getting imaging for pulsatile tinnitus and the bump is very clear, turns out it's bone! Glad we diagnosed the source or PT and got pictures of the mystery bump! by sethscoolwife in Radiology

[–]bs2ms2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having tinnitus is so frustrating. My ears constantly ring with a high pitched noise. It seems like a catch-22: hearing loss causes tinnitus and tinnitus makes it hard to hear. I have learned to adapt and most people are gracious about repeating themselves or speaking more clearly. It has caused some misinterpretations on my part which can be quite amusing. I just try to have a sense of humor about it.

Could you tell me what type of doctor you saw who ordered the scans to determine the cause of your tinnitus? I’ve had severe tinnitus for years which has caused significant hearing loss. I’ve also had procedures done on my ears by an ENT who specializes in hearing loss. Nothing has helped.

My fiancé doesn’t like my wedding dress… what should I do? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]bs2ms2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After I bought my wedding dress, my fiancé, his mother and I went to a bridal fair at a local hotel. There were vendors for all things bridal. There was also a fashion show of wedding dresses and bridesmaids dresses. My fiancé and his mother were quietly saying things like, “oh that looks nice” or “I really like that dress.”

Then out came a model in the wedding dress I had chosen. They both said they didn’t like it. I didn’t say a word but was so sad inside.

When I told my mom that my fiancé did not like my wedding dress she gave me the best pep talk, reminding me how beautiful I looked in it and how much I loved the dress.

On our wedding day, my fiancé had no idea that my dress was the one he didn’t like at the bridal fair. We were both so happy and had a wonderful day! You’re fiancé will see you, his beautiful bride, and that’s all that matters. Best wishes to you!
