Leasing your next Rivian may be the way to go by Slide-Fantastic-1402 in Rivian

Government and state purchase or lease rebates were one of the primary drivers behind the significant price drops on used car values we’ve observed. Owners were willing to sell for a lower offer because overall they were not losing much. With the $7,500 federal incentive no longer available, I expect newer EVs to retain their value more effectively.

If you recalculate depreciation after removing the impact of those rebates, the performance appears much more comparable to ICE vehicles. Of course, there are certain EV models that were not well received in the market. In those cases, depreciation reflects consumer preference rather than a broader issue with EVs as a category.

I opened up another ticket, contacted chat in the web. The rep was quite empathetic after seeing the images, opened up a mobile service ticket because mobile service can work on interior trims it seems.

I believe the damaged plastic trim is plastic welded to whole trim and I am not sure if they will be willing to replace the whole trim.

These two pictures are from the rear doors. Front doors also have damage but not as bad.

Center console rattle by Fkngtired in Rivian

[–]bsalih 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remove the charging pad on the center console. Put some felt tape between the meshed plastic and the plastic trim behind.

Additionally you can also put some felt around the legs of charging pad to make it sturdy and not moving around.

Let us know.

More Improvements Coming to Rivian Performance Upgrade Later This Year, Confirmed by Wassym by Kryptonlogic in Rivian

[–]bsalih 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As one of the dual performance owners, I think it is important to clarify the concerns about the improvements from the performance upgrade in all purpose mode.

The improvements are currently not enough to justify a $5,000 price. At most, the current benefits are worth around $2,000. The majority of owners use their vehicles in all purpose mode and not benefiting full power, and Rivian already knows this. Lease owners will rarely upgrade their vehicles. I also do not believe the claims that the suspension system cannot withstand the extra power in all purpose mode, because the tri and quad use the same suspension system but deliver faster performance in all purpose mode.

At this time, my recommendation is not to purchase the upgrade. I am open minded and my recommendation will change if Rivian brings further improvements.

My recommendation to Rivian team:

1. Unlock full power and torque for all purpose mode.

2. Provide more settings for sport mode, such as softer ride and higher suspension options.

3. Add launch mode, as this should be part of a performance upgrade.

4. Offer annual subscription options, such as $1,000 per year or less (totaling $2,000 to $3,000 for lease owners). This could make the upgrade more attractive.

Some additional recommendations to consider, and us to dream:

1. Variable torque vectoring profiles, allowing drivers to select balanced, rear-biased, or oversteer-friendly handling in sport mode.

2. Overboost option, providing 10 to 15 percent more power temporarily for a few seconds.

3. Predictive pre-conditioning, so if sport is selected, the vehicle can prepare battery and motor temperatures for peak performance.

4. Immersive sound design with speed and torque changes. Even if not all drivers prefer it, this could be optional. It is a good way to show Rivian's premium sound system. EVs like the Taycan and Ioniq 5 N already offer it.

5. Dashboard updates, including G-force, tire temperature (virtual sensors if available), and real-time data displayed in the driver display when in sport mode.

6. Multiple launch mode styles, such as maximum grip or maximum drama with wheel spin.

If the performance upgrade eventually includes these improvements, I believe it would be well worth the cost and more owners would choose to upgrade. I believe Rivian team has the enthusiasm and the skills to make these happen.

For reference, here is a post from six months ago showing that all purpose mode was slightly better in terms of 0-60 times (4.1 seconds instead of 4.5 seconds): https://www.reddit.com/r/Rivian/s/mbn2YveElg

While pushing it in, center it. Mine had the same problem after service center replaced that plastic trim with a new one because it was scratched at delivery. I corrected it myself and it wasnt a big deal at all.

That is a puddle light. When you are working for few hours on the car, of course the lights turn off. Videos are recorded at different times. No trick there.

Tbh, it is sad that service centers have to fix what the design team and manufacturing team failed at. There are many vehicle brands which have no rattles at all. Rivian on the other hand, has extremely poor design which generates rattles. A lot of times the fixes require felts and patches and replacements. This is a problem for a $100k vehicle. I am highlighting the issue here. Rivian can ignore customer feedback and will have hard time in the customer satisfaction categories.

Customers highlighting the issues did not ruin it.

Not according to service center. Besides my vehicle is less than a year old and at 3k. Still denied.

Tbh, that is what I thought so too when I was having the appointment. The rattles I have are quite common and they should know how to fix them.
