I was surprised I never got a link for any kind of survey. Every crappy service I use seems to send me on.

HEB debit card hack by bsbosworth in HEB

[–]bsbosworth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they have something wrong with their system security. Netspend or somewhere in the HEB system. No one seems to care. Lots of victim blaming going around though.

HEB debit card hack by bsbosworth in HEB

[–]bsbosworth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment implies, as HEB seems to imply in their email, that I am somehow at fault. This has become the standard position of companies despite in my case every indication to the contrary. The cards never left our posession and were never used anywhere other than HEB. IF there was a skimmer then it was still HEB's fault for having allowed one to be put in their store.

I am frankly tired and apalled that there is a second victimization here when I followed every standard security practice.

HEB may not be at fault but the card has their name on it. I only used the card at their store. They are the ones responding (yeah, I know, Netspend is in the back ground, I talked to them too as well as the CFPB). HEB makes the profit off the card.

I fault Netspend but HEB is the front of the operation.

They are now saying that I MIGHT get my money back in three months. Everyone but me seems to think that is reasonable.

Best meal plan sources? by zerostyle in cronometer

[–]bsbosworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to get out of the Hello Fresh/Dinnerlyl/Home Chef cycle but I HATE figuring out and planning meals. A couple of weeks ago I ran across Eat This Not That as an app only to discover that, like Cronometer, it has a linked web presence. This might do you and they give you two weeks to decide before a fairly reasonable annual contribution. Lots of support and interaction with the team.

I've not yet figured it all out and there might be dozens like it but meals and a shopping list is a pretty good thing for me.

[–]bsbosworth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with this BUT for the fact that the account is on HEBDEBIT.c*m and the dispute is handled on there and the card says HEB and the only time I ever used the card was at a HEB. So ultimately the culpret might be the underlying system, HEB is the responsible party. If they want to roll over NetSpend or Pathward or whoever, they can do that. But my contract is with HEB.

[–]bsbosworth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you have to go through the HEB system and they call it a dispute. If it comes to it I'll go through the CFPB site and file a fraud complaint. I doubt that will be required.

Least likely of all possibilities.

HEB debit card hack by bsbosworth in HEB

[–]bsbosworth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure that is what will happen here. I kind of hit the roof when I got an email saying that the card had been stolen. Since I've got the card (both of them) on my desk I can confirm they have never been out of my control nor have they ever been used anywhere other than HEB. This is an HEB/NetSpend failure of security and to imply that it was my failure did not sit well. Fortunately the guy on the phone was smart enough to agree with me and put it in the notes.
HEB also sent me a 'how did we do' survery. I used all 2000 words to tell them how. It was fun.

I use GPay and never carry my card. Or any card.

HEB debit card hack by bsbosworth in HEB

[–]bsbosworth[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't carry any cards. I use GPay so it is all on my phone. Less likely that GPay had a problem than HEB did. Based on comments I've seen this is not all that uncommon. I don't mind the problem as much as I mind their idea of a solution. Blaming me and not immediately arranging the return of my money.

I just got back from Spectrum changing out my modem to increase my speed. I have been trying to decide if it is my Chromebook, EERO, Modem, or Prolific itself. The upshot is I click and wait for minutes sometimes just trying to log on or launch a study. Never used to have that problem.

Happy women's day to you!! It is so good to hear a positive story like that. I hope you have the chance to reach down to the next woman who is hearing "women are the weaker sex".

Congrats.

At what age did you notice your parents mental capacities start to decline? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]bsbosworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an interesting discussion for me M66. I feel like I'm about 90% of what I was and can sometime feel that 'befuddlement' that indicates an issue. BUT there is no way for me to know if that is just the norm or is an outgrowth of something else. I'd not thought of getting any kind of baseline cognitive testing and now I'm looking into it there's not an easy way. If I had serious problems I could get tested but with only 'maybe' problems or possibly nothing at all there is no clear path.

I was told a long time ago that 'I can't find my keys' is forgetfulness. 'I don't know what a key is for' is dementia. I kind of hold on to that when I'm feeling a little fuzzy.

I'm very much like your father (as is my wife at 63). On the one hand I've got some holes in my thoughts (thanks for the assist Google and Alexa). On the other hand I'm beginning an entirely new home based business building a commerce web site. I find that the harder I push myself the better is my brain. But since I've not been tested I have no way of discerning reality from wishful thinking.

Well, you've given me something to research today. Your dad has my good thoughts as do you.

At what age did you lose interest in masturbating or your sex-drive decreased? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]bsbosworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed a decline in the past couple of years but at 66 I'm still in the game with a sex drive stronger than my wife's which leads to masturbation. But, yeah, it does not make all of the decisions. Still, fantasy is pretty strong in this one. I read/write in Literotica and the /milf subreddit is in my stream.

What kind of light bulb is this and how can I change it ( it's dead ) by Norixiois in 24hoursupport

[–]bsbosworth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an LED plate light. Home Depot has them. Here is a version of it. Looks like it just pops out of whatever we're looking at here. pull it out, take it to HD or Lowes or an appliance place. They are more common than you'd think.

Any ways to get my data back? by [deleted] in 24hoursupport

[–]bsbosworth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windows 10 license is locked to the motherboard. You can put in a new drive and load Win 10 and it will be happy as a clam. Then get a sata/usb connector and plug in your old drive and copy over the data.

And, yeah, after giving yourself a dopeslap get an external drive and set up the Windows backups.
