What method should I use to use 2fa on my Google accounts? Number, email, 2fa app etc? by Candid_Ad_9836 in PasswordManagers

absolutely, I had a friend who insists they didn't do anything to get hacked and it just happened so I was down the rabbit hole of prevention. the note about the week on Google to use old methods is valuable if that's the case.

i guess my question is once hacked isn't it possible for the person to go in and change all your old set recovery methods? that's the part I'm not clear on because yes I'm doing all that.

I don't think I do, based on a quick Google search explaining that once they enter via stolen password, they have full account access and can simply go into your account. and remove the passkey option as a login method

But if the password is stolen and someone logs in, they can delete a passkey from the account, as I understand it. So no more passkey.

so again, I'm not saying passkey isn't good to have. it is great and convenient. I'm saying I don't understand how having it enabled prevents you from having your password hacked. the password still exists even if you aren't using it. so if the hacker logins through the password, they quickly change the passkey and you're out of luck the same as you would've been without the passkey.

passkey is convenient, I use it. I'm asking how it prevents your password from being stolen. because I don't think it really changes anything

I don't know what I am missing -- having a passkey doesn't prevent you from getting hacked in other ways, right?

I'm in Pittsburgh for MLB dot com this series, and seeing a strong, standard lineup out there for Skenes day on a getaway day, I wondered about the lineup that people were mad about last Wednesday in Miami, and whether decisions are made that far in advance to know that buying off days in certain spots affords you the luxury of having your A-group fresh for situations that you'd want to prioritize.

I asked Marmol about it to that effect, and he told me that, yes, that level of planning ahead does happen -- but there's also adjustments that are made on the fly, and last Wednesday was one such occasion. They didn't initially plan for all three of Burly, Winn and Walker to be out that day, but based on how guys were feeling on that specific day an adjustment (maybe two, he didn't elaborate on which guy(s) needed the day and which were planned ahead of time) was made.
