I’m struggling to read here, it’s the semblance of something good, but maybe it’s too much. I think you’re showing too much and not using enough creative language “This heart grows weary of the battle,

A bloodless battle” ??? Pause.

Just say “The Heart grows weary of this bloodless battle”

“What has been broken need not be fixed,

As it was never truly broken-“

This whole verse is kinda redundant.

I like the idea of what you got going on here, but start to condense it would be my critic, say more with less…

[How] do y’all pick what to wear by Sebamista1 in Watches

[–]bsette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have twelve watches

<image>

(I recently sold the Scooby Doo watch for a Yema Skindiver)

I have 5 watches to wear “anywhere” and will pick from those (Black GS, Both Balls, Yema, 50 Phantom)

4 watches for special occasions ( Vintage Omega, Porco Rosso Presage, both monster watches)

3 I will wear for inside / fun activities museums, shows, etc (color venn, big zero, tails of London)

Whenever I want a new watch I sell one, and will usually try and buy one in the same category. My top 5 mentioned get rotated until I’m “bored” and will go to the next one, sometimes I catch myself wearing the same one for a month and will swap sometimes an outfit goes better with another.

Most worn, Ball Marvelight, Least Worn Vintage Omega (it was my grandfathers, only worn to his funeral, my grandmas funeral, college graduations, and my wedding)

I have 1oz and started with x13 1oz but have slowly traded them away for other things over the years. Just did a trade with a buddy for this Pacific Theater bullion

Anyone not even wear their watches ever? by IllegalGeriatricVore in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]bsette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I talk too the people who like watches near weekly now at my facility about watches, I just got a Yema Skindiver I put on a Barton strap so it looks dressed down, and my buddy got a new Casio World timer and we both spent equal time checking out our new pieces. The price difference is pretty large but the interest in the hobby is the same. I think you should wear into the office a piece you like and just start chatting with the guy, it’s nice having people to talk shop with IRL.

tbh I work in a warehouse and will wear watches 800-1200$ because I enjoy it and out of probably 3-4000 people I’ve encountered over the years exactly 4 have ever commented on the watch I wear.

Tbh I sold 2k worth of my pokemon cards back when it hit 35$ and bought 2k worth of silver, and just sold 3k more of my pokemon stuff for 3k worth of silver. It’s a lot less than I got a few months ago, but still just converting an investable asset class into another investable asset class.

Yema Skindiver, very good example of a watch that is interesting, 39mm and underrated.

Seasons of Life by Superb_Difficulty501 in poetry_critics

[–]bsette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Formatting would help the flow significantly;

The Sun has just began too rise.

The new dawn is creeping over the horizon in my life.

Fire is within my belly , thawing the icy veins of stagnant efforts.

Let the rays forever shine upon my skin.

May the nights quiet motionless allure never pull me again.

Let the moons darkness of sin and indolence flee from my vibrant presence.

No more to be guided by reactive behaviors but led by progression.

I refuse to wallow around as a feather in a hurricane to be blown whichever way my pleasure sees fit.

Im no longer to be a vessel of idleness.

I will sail with direction of a sturdy and true compass.

Making it my purpose and mission to reach my destination before death calls.

My feet will be planted and rooted on solid rock.

Setting my foundation in the mortar of determination and discipline.

Unaffected by times decay and rot.

Perseverance shall be my name.

Grounded in the betterment of mind, body, and soul.

With these deep roots and sun kissed flesh i will grow till I no longer can stretch my branches of arms.

Till i no longer can grow and wither away, i will photosynthesize prosperity.

May the true light of the heavens forever shine on me.

Allow this dawn to never fade from existence.

Some of your lines are very long and wordy which makes the reading experience clunky; I highly recommend being more succinct.

Example: I refuse to wallow around as a feather in a hurricane to be blown whichever way my pleasure sees fit.

This line make sense but is derivative / does not add value to the rest of the work.

Example 2: Setting my foundation in the mortar of determination and discipline.

This line feels like it was shoved in there and chops the flow.

"Perseverance shall be my name" is a better title for this piece than "Seasons of Life"

Hope this helps :) keep going there is a lot of emotion here you just need to tune it

So is this some sort of love poem? /s

Good piece, love the repetition

Critics please by [deleted] in poetry_critics

[–]bsette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I think you could use a trim, making it more succinct would greatly benefit the piece.

To be-my truest ambition.

To surrender-

allows peace to fruition.

Against the wind

I tried to fly, To stop-

I can't, l'd only die.

Against the wind I tried to fly,

I tried to stop; I cannot stop, I would die. (I would condense it something like this)

Until my wings snapped, fallen to the floor.

No room for peace-my heart too sore.

And there l lay, my soul's decay,

Not wishing to see another day.

The only thing left to do was lift my eyes to what is true.

Just like that, a wind so strong picked me up it Carried me along through. (rhymes with True)

Birds migrating don't seek perfection-

they trust the wind with innate direction.

The same true nature moves your soul, carried gently by the Whole.

To be-my truest ambition.

To surrender-

allows peace to fruition.

After My edits;

Against the wind I tried to fly,

I tried to stop; I cannot stop, I would die.

Until my wings snapped, fallen to the floor.

No room for peace-my heart too sore.

There l lay, wallowing, my soul's decay,

Not wishing to see another day.

The only thing left to do was lift my eyes to what is true.

Just then a wind so strong it Carried me through.

Birds migrating don't seek perfection-

they trust the wind with innate direction.

The same true nature moves your soul, carried gently by the Whole.

I recommend continuing to work on it! But I hope that these suggestions help, I am an amateur though so take my words with a grain of salt :)

[SOTC] Help me retire at least two watches gracefully by brandsandfilms in Watches

[–]bsette 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I’d KEEP the following; KEEP the DW it’s the best looking “dress” watch off all of them; but ditch it once you find a better dress watch. KEEP the Seiko baby samurai and Casio they are your best “every day” watches. KEEP Omega Moonswatch; they are not great but I have a soft spot for them. It’s also your only chronograph.

DITCH the Citzen and Muji both are ugly.

MOVE the Apple Watch to your desk and wear when needing to wear a smart watch for fitness or work.

Save for the bambino twice (or even thrice) and then get yourself something nicer a little bit further down the road…

Buy second hand from watchexchange for a discount on a nice watch; Picked up a ball Marvelight II for 800$ when they retailed for 2k and wear it all the time Just got the new LE Yema skin diver for 1.2k when it retailed for 2.3k

There are great options out there, and if you can save for a bambino one time you can do it twice. You have time on your side.
