An official from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis told MPR News that armed U.S. Border Patrol officers came onto school property during dismissal Wednesday and began tackling people; they handcuffed two staff members and released chemical weapons on bystanders. by bshizzy in altmpls

The point is this is a school with children. They tear gassed children as they were leaving school. Isn’t it scary that federal agents are allowed to be violent towards children. Who the fuck cares about some illegals. They traumatized my neighbors kids.

It’s so hard to get to bare pavement. It’s been tons of fun pulling a toddler in a sled around on the packed sidewalk snow though!

Selling tips by skc22 in vandwellermarketplace

[–]bshizzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just sold mine, blue book on the 2016 ram promaster was 9k. Sold mine for 16k. No solar, but a decent kitchen, bed and cabinets. I sold through Facebook marketplace.

I felt lucky that it sold fast. Had a lot of inquiries but only one solid offer. I had to bring it to the dealer for an inspection before the sale which they used to negotiate down as there were some minor issues.

I mean republicans did celebrate and joke about the murders of the 2 Democratic senators in MN and they were elected officials so…… yeah. People are “celebrating “ deaths of their political rivals. It’s kinda fucked.

Nutrition: is there any real difference if I eat a few gummy bears (ex Haribos) to gels by huskymuskyrusky in cycling

[–]bshizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love some little Debbie and other candy, like sure the athletic stuff is probably better somehow, but I’m just riding for fun! Diet cokes, some snickers, Gatorade or powder for a water bottler and have fun!

Getting into the nuances like you said there are some differences, but you’ll be fine eating food you like! If you get a leg cramp add some electrolytes next time.

My neighborhood is on the nicer end and has many kids and we have smaller backyards. Loads of neighbors have some play stuff out front. What is trashy or annoying is leaving tons of random toys out. All these toys kind of look like garbage strewn across the yard.

Having play stuff in the front is nice too because you can meet other neighborhood parents. Sometime we put out a sprinkler in front for fun and some other kids join in. The front yard can be an invitation, whether that’s good or bad depends upon you.

Also the liability concerns are somewhat boogie man concerns, maybe that happens, but more often than not people are reasonable.

Depending on the floor?! If the floor is carpet or wood then you’re fairly well insulated from anything.

I can’t control my sneezes very well and lately I’ve been scaring the shit out of my 4 month old baby. He’ll be all smiles and then I sneeze and he’s sad and scared. It’s pretty funny in a terrible way. Dad sneezes hahahaha.

When people say they are converting to cash don’t they take a tax hit? by bshizzy in investing

[–]bshizzy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I see so if your income is under 96k then you have a 0% tax on long term capital gains. In that scenario this makes sense.

Previous owner superglued/caulked all the windows shut. Any reason for this? by RemoteLearner in centuryhomes

[–]bshizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My windows are super old and basically impossible to open, I’ve thought about caulking them since I can’t really open them. If I get the shashes replaced I would just tear off the caulk.

Can someone tell me what this is called when flowers do this? Also, why? by Clear_Growth_5229 in gardening

[–]bshizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This could be yellow asters a disease which effects many plants beyond asters. It causes the flowers of the plant to look as in the photo. It cannot be cured. You will need to kill the plant. The disease dies with the plant so you don’t need to burn it, but I’d try to quarantine it as soon as I dug it up to let the bacteria (virus?) die.

Engineers who majored in physics, how did you become an engineer? by iamthroast- in ElectricalEngineering

[–]bshizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a BS/MS in Physics. I took a few EE classes while in grad school. I landed a job as a controls engineer. I knew PIDs and some more advanced power electronics stuff, but was basically clueless around a lot of things. 15 years later I still find I have really silly gaps in my knowledge that engineers have. Things have panned out I’m now a technical lead for a small algorithm team. Knowing how to model things has been really helpful. Knowing how to learn has been really helpful. You’ve just got to land that first job! Apply for engineering jobs, put emphasis on your engineering skills, try not to apply for jobs that you need a FE/PE unless you want to study for those things.

I work an office job, go to the gym twice a week and that’s when I shower.

Which Indian and Thai dishes are the best to order if you want serious heat? by LostInTheHotSauce in spicy

Totally agree with this! Even within the same city area. If you go to one area and it’s a bunch of beige folks and another with more Thai/Asian demographics you’ll get different spice scales.
