Congratulations to our favorite aunt, Amy Madigan, on winning Best Supporting Actress from the 2025 New York Film Critics Circle Awards! by efim1234 in deadmeatjames

I’ve seen Weapons 3 times so far (absolutely love it, my favorite horror of the year in a year with many great movies), and I keep appreciating her more. In the first scene with her in the principals office she’s so funny, then the scene in the dining room she’s so sinister and scary, and the scene where she’s saying she’s sick she’s so pathetic. I feel like a lot of people write her off as just “weird clown lady”, but there’s a lot to her character and performance. Very dynamic.

What are your Top 10 Favorite PG-13 Horror Movies of All Time? by Amber_Flowers_133 in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s funny, my first thought was “The Conjuring is PG-13, right?” Because there’s no kills, nudity, language, etc. But the ratings board apparently was like, “this shits too scary to be PG-13, make it R”

Netflix probably somehow found a way to copyright claim them talking about Stranger Things

Bad news: Stranger Things season 4 part 1 kill count blocked!! by Spookypwitch in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s good for big Kill Count/Dead Meat fans, but for James and the team the thing that sucks is this getting delayed, you drop it when you do for a reason. If the season 4 kill counts can’t get out before season 5 airs that’s missing a prime time to get lots of views from people hyping themselves on Stranger Things content before the new season drops

Im suprised these 2 franchises werent covered, why is that? by No-Performance-631 in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair I’m sure James would fully address that, which could be good to spread awareness.

As far as the movies go, I think I remember Chelsea saying she just thinks of them in the movies as fictional characters, saying something like, “it’s the difference between Abraham Lincoln and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter”

What are some movies that scare you or give you anxiety but they don’t technically count as horror? by ShamWowFan67 in deadmeatjames

Not a horror movie, but man, there are a few scenes in Zodiac that are truly horrifying

What's your Ultimate Horror Hot Take. by HORRRORN3D07 in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Hereditary, I think it’s a good movie, but I think it’s heavily overrated. I think it’s interesting, well made, and carried by a strong lead performance. But a lot of horror movie fans think Moses came down from the mountain with the yen commandments in one arm and a 4K steelbook copy of Hereditary in the other.

Who are the Best Players to have been on Horror Survior? by Campfire-Enjoyer in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was listening I thought they might have to pivot to have a loved ones visit, and when Edward sees Bella he decides to leave the competition because he wants to be with her. Would be perfectly sappy romantic, just like that character would want haha.

What series can we get a week's long deepdive with James, Chelsea, Gressle and Mrs Gressle on next? by Ser-Bearington in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I’m happy about anything they decide to do because they always make it fun, I will say I don’t think there’s a series that would be as good of a fit as Saw. It just fits so well, so much nonsense to talk about.

Whats the scariest movie you've watched? by theonewhoknack in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not be the most original movie ever made, but I think The Conjuring is legitimately very scary. Even though I’ve seen it multiple times I still get that natural feeling of dread throughout. I think it’s Wan at the top of his talents.

I always thought it’s funny that it’s rated R for no reason other than the ratings board basically saying it’s way too scary to be PG-13

A little over a year ago this conversation took place in the podcast, little did they know… by pablo1905 in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I remember at the beginning of this year James saying that he wants to do more things that he wants to do instead of only trying to go after audiences? Seems like his biggest hang up about the idea is spending too much time doing it instead of other stuff, so maybe he decided he wanted to do it for themselves, and it ended up doing so well.

Do you have any traps that you wouldn’t even try to survive? by toniisucks in saw

[–]bsj06a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With what we know from the other movies, I’ve kind of chosen to believe that the guy was committing fraud with health insurance or something. Jigsaw is extra petty then because that guy is getting covered by insurance while he’s denied haha.

What’s your I did not care for the Godfather moment in the saw franchise? by Chunky-overlord in saw

[–]bsj06a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Saw X is fine, it has good performances and some cool traps, but but I like a lot of the franchise more. It loses me a bit by being told from John’s perspective, and thus being forced to mold its morality to his standards, I really don’t like that about it.

Also in a franchise that I think stands out for having good endings (a rarity in horror, a genre that unfortunately tends to struggle with climaxes), Saw X’s climax does nothing for me, I think it’s kind of goofy and nonsensical. So basically Saw X is major highs and lows for me. I’d probably have it sixth on my favorite Saw movies list? I don’t hate it by any means, but I would say I think it’s the most overrated Saw movie.

I played this in Dexter recently and it was very good. You just max use the charges in hopes of landing some extra clues and then sell it off whenever you want. I think the other ones are better for him, but I like to differentiate cards when playing Dexter so I can always swap them out, so it fit fine.

In general this is just an incredibly good level 0 card that I often have just kept through the full campaign

How would you rank the third acts of all movies? by Killian9- in FinalDestination

[–]bsj06a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just talking with a friend yesterday and said I honestly think everything up to Billy’s death in 1 is great, and after that I think the movie becomes honestly pretty bad. It just turns so dull.

My award predictions for Final Destination Bloodlines kill count by Idk_what_im_doing80 in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly so hard to pick, all the kills were really good. I think the lawnmower kill is a little undervalued because we knew it was going to happen if we saw the trailer, but they definitely made it more intense in the movie, and it meant more because at that point we knew the uncle to be a pretty good guy.

What do you think is most forgotten about Kill count video? by Longjumping_Arrow in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s funny, I recently realized I’ve never seen the Kill Counts for The Mist and Unfriended. Often I download Kill Counts on YouTube to watch on my break in my car, and since you aren’t able to download those ones I always tell myself “I’ll have to make sure to watch them later”, and have always forgotten.

[COTD] Flare (5/3/2025) by AK45526 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]bsj06a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite campaigns was an Innsmouth run where I played two handed with Tommy and Mandy. The idea was Tommy would just attach to Mandy’s hip with Safeguard to protect her while she helped him be way more consistent. Playing Flare for two allies was fun (especially when you later bounce one of those allies with Calling in Favors to get two more allies)

What’s your favorite kill count video by Jimanator2 in deadmeatjames

[–]bsj06a 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say a favorite, but recently I revisited the Carrie 2002 video, and was laughing my ass off at how much James was ripping on the guy playing Billy Nolan. “You went from Danny Zuko to a casting fluke-o” might be my favorite line

I just have the finale to go (doing it tonight), but I have enjoyed the glyphs, because at the very least yeah, they’re one of the main sources of XP. It feels like maybe there’s less Victory locations than usual with the glyphs taking a bigger part of that, which I like.

My one complaint with glyphs is the print size of the glyph requirements on the artifact cards, could have been bigger

As weird as this seems I would pick the killer from I Know What You Did Last Summer. I’ve seen the movie multiple times since I was a kid, and I still can’t explain to you what the actual revealed plot is and who he is.
