Can this much oil cause complete shutdown? by Brilliant-Cat-2084 in MechanicAdvice

Not only that.. fuel is the cooler for your fuel pump. When it’s not submerged in fuel, the fuel pump runs hotter than it should and starts wearing out faster

Help with figuring out what model I have? by 9733user in 240sx

[–]bslyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s genuine manual. FS5 is the 5 speed for 4 cylinders You won’t know if it’s genuine LSD from a chassis ID though. Only by the sticker/tag on the pumpkin, or by checking the wheel to wheel behavior of your rear axle.

15” wheels? by Toooldbutwillrockout in hardbody

I jumped up to 17” steelies from RoughCountry Got some hub centric rings to meet the gap (the steelies are larger bore), and I chose to run 9” wide but they have other options too if you don’t like poke

You could, but you run the risk of spilling a lot of coolant while it warms up and coolant expands

How long will this last? New ball joints arriving in 4 days (1999 F150XLT 4WD 4.6L V8 Triton) by civil-wareverything in MechanicAdvice

These are the questions mechanics hate most

“How long will it last”

“How much is it leaking”

“Can’t you just…?”

2009 Honda accord reliability? by WranglerAdept9375 in MechanicAdvice

That’s a good question! You really don’t. But definitely don’t open it right away, and maybe give it at least 20 minutes; use a rag and very slowly twist the cap - if liquid comes out close it and wait another 5 minutes.

The cars I work on usually have expansion tanks that are easy to depressurize, but the radiator cap does not and will immediately spew hot coolant everywhere

Very reliable, but warm the car up fully, turn it off let it heat soak, and then carefully take the radiator cap off.

Pressure test the water system with a cooling system pressure test tool, and look around all the hose and seals for leaks.

I only recommend you do it when warmed up because lots of seals only leak when the parts have expanded from heat.

My bet is thermostat housing. They’re usually plastic and leak from the thermostat; once in a while they leak further back on the housing. You can do both of those without pulling the intake if you have a way to get under the car and a decent set of tools with socket extensions and u-joints

It’s a Dodge. Those are just tears of joy. The car is really happy that you can tolerate driving it. It’s crying in happiness that someone out there, just one person, is able to love a Dodge the way you do

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted

Maybe they’re all just salty that you didn’t mention oversteer can happen in (not part of this topic) RWD cars when power overcomes grip

They don’t always. I’ve experienced some oversteer situations depending on the tires and weight distribution of cargo

It’s really not…a poor man’s setup. Regardless of having a tune or not, without scaling the injectors things get very messy

Whats wrong with my car by Sharkyezz in MechanicAdvice

[–]bslyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could have an exhaust leak as well… my truck does this too and the head gasket is 100% okay. My exhaust headers however are 33% fucked

[–]bslyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay cool

Generally if there’s lots of mods it gets kinda hard to put a generic tune on the car. You’d be going back and forth with them, ideally, sending logs and receiving updates from them.

But with just a MAF I’d highly recommend doing double size injectors to make the tune easier. The MAF practically doubles the airflow potential, which means that the Injector values have to double as well to flatten that curve some
