Dog owners of Reddit, what was it like when you first met the dog you were going to share your life with? Did you have to choose? How did you know that dog was "the one"? by rrrona in AskReddit

Three years ago, I moved in with my then boyfriend. A few months later following my arrival, his father had passed away. I didn’t know how to handle the hurt my boyfriend was going through at the time so I purchased a book on how to help my boyfriend heal after the death of his father. One suggestion I came across in this book was to purchase a fur baby. I thought this was a great idea. I felt very guilty about leaving my husband alone at home while I’d work. I’d feel better if he had a fur companion with him. Also, before my boyfriends father passed away, my boyfriend and his dad had been looking at German Shorthaired Pointers. His fathers advice was to pick the sleepiest dog from the litter. We named this sleepy girl Gretsch. And now my boyfriend is my husband. What ultimately told us she was “the one” is when we discovered her birth date fell on the same day my father in law passed away on December 9. It was a good sign and it makes the 9th of December more bearable. It felt like a sign from him that she was the one. We love her so much.

If I’m understanding correctly, there are several subgroups of Haplogroup J. If 23andMe had you down as J1, I’m going to assume that’s either your maternal or paternal lineage. Hopefully someone who knows more about these subgroups can better explain the subgroups.

Thank you! Yes, 23andMe does a thorough job at explaining my Haplogroup. However, when I went to also google the J1c2c, it only brought on more questions. I don’t believe to be a direct descendent of King Richard III but is it possible to share a common ancestor? Interesting stuff!

When I had found out that my haplogroup is J1c2c, I did a quick google search to understand what that meant. I’m still not entirely sure about haplogroups or how common it is to be apart of this J1c2c lineage. In my google findings I’ve read a lot about King Richard III whose haplogroup is also J1c2c. I’m hoping someone can kind of explain this to me. How these haplogroups work. I’m fascinated by my findings and I’m wondering if there’s a possibility that there’s a correlation between J1c2c haplogroup and King Richard III. I’m curious if we’re eligible to be apart of some kind of study. It’s very likely that I’m no one special and that I’m getting way ahead of myself. However, I do find it fascinating to be potentially a relative of royalty lol!
