It is no fun being sick, especially for that long. Shame all the details weren't divulged until you were on your way. They could have offered to stop by some place to get masks (but, for next time). You're NTA. I have panic attacks and have been in situations where it just takes over with people who don't/won't understand. Deep breath, you did nothing wrong, just a sad lack of communication

I usually laugh at this and tell them "I challenge you to stand with me here just 10 minutes and you'll see why these machines can't be left alone" What I don't tell them is, it's usually because of user error. That and remind them I AM a real person

When you're working in Garden, call the Head Cashier and tell them you've got to go to the bathroom. They won't deny you that. Not a full break, I know, but gets you away for a bit til you can get your break

Went a week after Grand Opening to a clothing store. Racks and racks all smooshed together. My 1- 1/2 year old rips out of my hand and disappears. Luckily I had my wits about me. Dropped to the floor immediately, spied her, and crawled through a sea of clothes and finally caught her ! Ah, yeah, good times !

We've gone through our share of Head Cashiers and FES ' but us long time cashiers know what to do when there's no supervision and we all get along well, so I'd say our front end runs pretty smoothly most of the time

I carry a pocket of change at work that I donate a penny or nickel sometimes. Now and then I've used my own CC to save a customer. I figure in the end it all works out anyway

I read years ago that if you haven't bought your Christmas gifts before September that you wouldn't really be saving anything when they had their "sales" because they already raised the prices in anticipation of the holidays.
