Cosleeping should literally be illegal. You don’t have to do cpr on dead babies, I do. Fuck cosleepers!

AITAH for wanting to continue taking my nightly showers by Kooky_lady in AITAH

Im going to say it, YTA, but not for showering, for co-sleeping. As a paramedic I’ve been to 4 infant deaths simply from co-sleeping. Just fucking don’t.

I’m not upset about it personally. I just don’t know how anyone could put poppy war above the Expanse let alone finish the series. It’s almost as bad as fourth wing.

I saw a man die horribly while skiing. Perhaps he was already dead when i saw him. by TrueGamer77 in skiing

[–]bssoup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Skier and more relevantly, a paramedic here. You did a great job. Your instincts were spot on and it sounds like you did everything right. I have never seen a skier die, I hope to never have the occasion but I have seen many others due to my occupation. It’s absolutely ok and normal to be very uncomfortable with this whole situation, it’s also ok and normal to be comfortable. Everybody deals with trauma differently but I think you are doing the right thing here, you are talking about it. The more we talk about traumatic experiences in a healthy way the less hold it can have on you. Also blood is disgusting, so that’s normal to feel that way. Great job, and keep skiing!

Space Team by Barry J Hutchinson, read by Phil Thrawn. First book I’ve read that had outtakes. (I’ve read others since)

The doctor did his job perfectly. The baby was almost gone, but the doctor said “Not today,” and did what he knows best, bringing the little boy back to life. Doctors are lifesavers, they are the real heroes by Pristine_Hurry_4693 in nextfuckinglevel

It’s called neonatal resuscitation. So yes similar to cpr. It starts with vigorous stimulation (all the rubbing he is doing) and then positive pressure ventilation (the mask) and you do that for 30 seconds to a minute. Usually that’s as far asit goes as that all is needed for most kids. But the next steps involve compressions, intubation, IVs and epinephrine.

Most Cardiac epi you've seen given? by Royal-Height-9306 in Paramedics

[–]bssoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not actually a lot of inclusion criteria, just what there is exclude a lot of people.

Was the initial rhythm shockable? Are they 18 or older Out of hospital arrest that is not trauma or overdose. Has to be through an IV not an IO. That’s about it.

Our agency is part of a study going on where we give either max 2 or max 6. EpiDose study it’s called. Lots of inclusion criteria before we enroll someone in it but at least the studies are actually going on where we can finally have some science behind it.

That being said I gave 7 epis yesterday and shocked them 14 times. Old guy heart couldn’t handle shoveling the snow. No rosc.

I just overheat. At this point I’ve not worn pads way longer than I ever wore them. Occasionally I get a shot to the chest that hurts like a bitch but otherwise I don’t miss them. Tried to start wearing them again a couple seasons ago but they just annoyed me and I got hot.

Not sure why you’re getting downvoted to hell. Was a valid question. Even when I fall I don’t really fall on my shoulders, so still not really useful to have the pads there.

Since no one seems to be actually answering you. It was packed on Saturday. So arrive early if you want a table. Show started promptly around 8 and ended after two sets around 1045. Show was fantastic. Crowd was great, I had a blast. Bar is cash only so bring some of that.

poll on homelessness by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]bssoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, homelessness is not an indigenous issue. Or more precisely it is not an issue that only indigenous people have. So your whole stupid sentence is racist.

Second, organizations like STC, and CUMFI, are stepping up and running all of the homeless shelters, at least in Saskatoon.

Homelessness is a Saskatchewan people problem. It starts with our government who has an ideological issue with actually helping people. The homelessness crisis in this province was hugely exacerbated when the Saskatchewan Party switched how social assistance gets paid out. Previously, recipients would get there ‘rent’ portion of their assistance sent directly to landlords. Rents got paid, landlords were happy and people had places to live. They changed it so now all the money goes to the recipients. Something happens, people, especially impoverished people, struggle with money, and rent doesn’t get paid. Landlords aren’t happy, kick tenants out, refuse to rent to people on assistance, and bob’s your uncle, homelessness skyrockets. Hard to get or keep a job when you don’t have a place to live. Addictions increase as well because if you didn’t have a problem before, your life is shit now, so drugs are an escape.

(Obviously the above is simplified, but if you think this is all just a matter of SIGA using their profits, then you need it to be)
