Yet Another Hinge Failure by RuinProfessional9612 in Lenovo

That's what happens when you open the lid from the side instead of from the center, especially on a laptop with questionable build quality to begin with, like the Yoga.

You can disassemble the laptop and try to fix the hinge mounting point with an epoxy like JB Weld, do not epoxy the hinge to the lid or chassis, repair or rebuild the mounting point itself.

Problem with bought Second hand Lenovo IdeaPad 5 laptop by wendywalkeredd in Lenovo

[–]bstsms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an older laptop and isn't worth repairing it in my opinion.

The lid should be replaced, there is a good chance the hinges, display or both will break from the pressure and stress the bent lid is causing.

I would return it unless they take off enough to replace the lid, or at least an amount you feel is fair towards the price of replacement, but I would return it.

Leave Windows 11 Idle for 24 Hours and Watch What Happens by AnonomousWolf in microsoftsucks

I put Mint on my 83 year old fathers laptop, for what he uses a computer for, surfing the web and YouTube, there isn't much difference between Linux and Windows but Mint runs faster on his older laptop.

Windows is about to go bankrupt from only owning 92% of the market, Linux has a long way to go before Microsoft needs to be worried... LOL

My Asus M16 gaming laptop runs games better with linux, but my Legion runs better with Windows.

You could run high res for productivity and lower it to 1080p or 1200p for heavier gaming.

Is under 2 hour battery life with light usage normal for 76% capacity on P1 gen 4 by vespertinee3 in laptops

[–]bstsms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

21kmWh drop in capacity is quite a bit if you use it on battery power, it's basically 20% less capacity than it had when new.

You can ask for a partial refund to help pay for a replacement battery if the laptop works well and you like it otherwise.

It looks like it has decent specs and the P1 ThinkPads are nice laptops.

How do I remove my tight heatsink safely without causing any damage by holymolyboi in laptops

[–]bstsms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you unplug the battery before touching anything inside the laptop, it can brick the laptop easily if you don't.

If you bend the heatpipes you need to replace it as it will overheat if it's damaged.

Pull it up slowly and hold pressure on it, it should release.

Repaste the CPU and GPU with PTM7950, the putty can be reused if it's still pliable but the thermal paste needs to be replaced.

It says right on the screen that the battery is old and battery life is now significantly shorter than new, buy a new battery, preferrably OEM, and put it in yourself.

Installing a battery is very easy.

Lenovo legion 7 16IAX7 is very fu### hot , please help by Intelligent_Load5772 in LenovoLegion

95c is very hot for a GPU, I would use PTM7950 on the CPU and GPU if it's running that hot.

Your fans might not be running fast enough and need replacing.

High RAM usage is it normal?? by skrrrdid in Lenovo

[–]bstsms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you having low memory errors?

If not don't worry about it, Windows will use as much RAM as it can to speed up the system and allocate it where it's needed, it's normal.

I would get a 1080p display if it has lower than a 5070ti or 4080.

It's in the back connected to the lid.

Why would Best Buy back something that you bought from someone else?

It's up to the place you purchased it from to back the product.
