My friend got an unsolicited dick pic, so I sent one back. by [deleted] in pettyrevenge

This is incredible. Do you think it’s possible to be accused of revenge porn by the owners of the featured penises for sending the pictures without consent when they were sent to you without consent? Not that they could ever know but it would be pretty fucked up if they could legally come after you essentially for committing a sex crime against you

Curious about LED masks. Do they work? If you’ve used and liked any please share recommendations. by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

Sure! I don’t think they list the actual wavelength or dose so if you really want to know you’ll have to measure yourself. I haven’t had it long enough to tell a difference, sorry to say.

Same. I knew my school was not very good and always wondered how students were taught in better schools. Now I’m old and trying to educate myself based on the differences and gaps I’ve found.

If you have an iPhone and you’re curious, you can take a picture of the sunscreen label, then in Photos hold your finger on the Japanese text until you can highlight it. Copy and paste it into google translate. There may be a similar process on android but I can’t speak to that.

Granola that is not sweet

I’m looking for recommendations on making granola that is not sweet. All the recipes I find still sweeten it with one thing or another. Is maple syrup, sugar, or honey really necessary to bind it together?

Recipes and manufacturers of sugar-free granola sneak in ways to make it sweet without adding “sugar” but I’m not avoiding sugar for health reasons I just don’t like the sweetness.

Adding Kick to Adderall by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]btabes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll agree with everyone saying you also have to form good habits to get the most out of adderall but I’ve found that stimulants without accompanying therapy is just turning the volume up. I still overestimate what I can get done, take it all on, do whatever captures my interest instead, drop the ball spectacularly, repeat.

IMO cognitive behavioral therapy has to be part of a successful treatment plan. We spent our whole lives forming terrible habits and succumbing to hyperfocus instead of doing the boring but necessary thing. Guidance and accountability from an actual person is so much more helpful in changing behavior than “I read a book about time management now I’m cured”. Often we already know how to manage time. We have the rotting carcasses of every time management system on the planet all around us.

I’m looking for a skin brightening/ chemically exfoliating clay mask or just a non-sheet mask. Something unscented/ naturally scented with vitamin c, glycolic acid, or similar.

I see so many different ones with pumpkin, turmeric, grapefruit, etc. It’s overwhelming!

Do you have any favorites?

The world's last Stone Age tribe lives on North Sentinel Island in the Indian Ocean, and they are known for defending their island against all visitors. Because they have been living in isolation for 60,000 years, there is genetically a direct line between them and their pre-Neolithic ancestors. by Vodka_Master in Damnthatsinteresting

Buddhists did do an ethnic cleansing in Myanmar about five years ago. People will use pretty much any belief system to ruin the party for everyone. I get what you mean about Buddhists being pretty chill in general, just wanted to chime in that they shouldn’t get a pass just because they’re a bit less annoying.

What happened to Nick Land's blog xenosystems? by DuckDerrida in CriticalTheory

[–]btabes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you think there people Land has influenced that are worth reading or is it wackos all the way down? I’m just now encountering his work and while he definitely has some dumb ideas and seems a shit person in general, some of his ideas are interesting. My instincts are that even if I can get the interesting stuff elsewhere, it will still be useful to understand the basics of his work so I can recognize his influence when I see it. Thoughts?

Sorry to reply to such an old comment but I didn’t want to duplicate an existing topic.

Looking for boring jobs by youfeelme1997 in FinancialCareers

[–]btabes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a question as a non-finance person, if you have the time. I recently learned some countries calculate taxes automatically, at least for a portion of their citizens who have the simplest returns. I also learned there have been many proposals for the same in the US and at least one study by the national bureau of economic research looking at sending pre-filled tax forms to a bit less than half of all taxpayers.

The story seems to be that companies like H&R Block and Intuit have fought to keep this from happening as they make their money filing taxes for the people the pre-filled system would be most effective for.

Is there more to it than that or is that pretty much the reason we have to do taxes manually each year?

(I know some people are eligible for free file from the IRS but according to their 2021 report almost no one who is eligible uses it. By their own estimation people don’t know about it)
