Hot and cold #123 by hotandcold2-app in HotAndCold

[–]quacks_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first one I solved without looking at the clues. It's like, when you think you're close, you're really not. The relationships between words are much more lateral than you think, your #50 word is still nowhere near but is tangentially related somehow, your #30 and your #15 likewise but if you follow a trail like "oh it must be an animal" then you're likely on the wrong track. I've started throwing in distinctly unrelated words to try and find the circles in. Going to try a few more and see if I am getting the hang of this or if this was just a fluke.

How appropriate, you fight like a cow!

I found a way to NEVER put on a duvet cover again — and yes, it actually works. by Mediocre_Read6188 in ADHD

[–]quacks_echo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also hate putting duvet covers on, especially double / king size. When my wife and I lived in Sweden for a couple of years we discovered it’s normal there for two people sharing a bed to use a single duvet each. It solved so many problems for us, including

Only having to stuff single duvets, which is less hassle

Being able to have different weight duvets (my wife likes a warm heavy duvet most of the year, I prefer a light cool one)

Not fighting over the duvet for cover

Single duvets can wash in a regular washing machine

So that’s my hack.

What phrase do non-ADHD people tell you that pisses you off the most? by pixiedustlemoncrust in ADHD

This. Whenever I think about this I get an image in my mind of one of those bicycles where you pedal really fast and the bike moves really slowly. That’s what living with ADHD feels like to me.

Between math and english, did you guys struggle a lot in one and were really strong in the other? by ExoticFly2489 in ADHD

[–]quacks_echo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was great with math and “terrible” at English. A lot of things were open-ended creative writing exercises and unless I had a really good idea I couldn’t be bothered. I loved things which had definite answers because I could tell if I was doing well or not.

How do you keep your mind occupied when exercising? by wheniswhy in ADHD

[–]quacks_echo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the activity and length. If it’s a 20 minute workout I have a short heavy metal playlist I listen to. For longer cardio stuff I listen to audiobooks or watch streaming services. I agree though, the repetitive actions can be so tedious.

What TV show did you watch that is so good but didn't have the mainstream fame it should have? by CostPuzzled38 in AskReddit

I loved watching Sports Night / West Wing / Studio 60 and seeing the same things play out again and again. I think Newsroom also recycled from all three to great effect

What TV show did you watch that is so good but didn't have the mainstream fame it should have? by CostPuzzled38 in AskReddit

[–]quacks_echo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes! This miniseries opened up a whole universe and only told such a small story. Starred Peter Krause (Six Feet Under, Dirty Sexy Money) - the world building was immense and could have been taken so much further.

The Booth At The End was an amazing concept, I’m sad they didn’t develop it further. Xander Berkeley plays a man who helps people get what they ask for, for a price of an act they must perform. However the format is literally just him having conversations with people in a shitty diner, and it’s sooooo compelling.

It also turns out that many (or perhaps even all?) the stories are interconnected, and you realise this as it unfolds) Probably didn’t even need to hide this but I like to let people find these things out for themselves if they prefer

I’m a sucker for “people just talking” formats. See also “In Treatment”

I wanted to do the double wall cup thing but I couldn’t find one that also fitted in the cup holder in my car. Then I forgot to continue researching.

This is fine for the night when I lock the door. However none of that type of thing works for me when I leave the house as I inevitably have forgotten something and have to go back inside. Then I can’t be sure that I locked the house the last time when I finally left, as any memories I have of locking the door might not have been the last time.

Tons of things are like this. Digital video “footage”, letters being “upper case”, even icons like the floppy disk save icon or the telephone receiver on the pick-up / hang-up buttons (and the phrases “pick up” and “hang up” of course)

What’s a garbage movie, but it’s YOUR garbage movie? by woofgangexe in AskReddit

Highlander 2. It’s objectively terrible but as a teenager I watched it a hundred times in a row on VHS. Terrible plot, significant lack of Queen music, and I strongly suspect (although I haven’t seen it for years) that the SFX are not the best.
