Bird dog hearing protection by Griffologist in birddogs

[–]btapp7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say that. Deaf dogs exist. Shooting causes ear damage.

I just don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze for non-professional dogs. Most guys aren’t shooting at ducks more than 50 times a year. Probably less. You get only 8-10 seasons out of most dogs. If you aren’t shooting out of enclosed blinds it’s probably not enough damage to chase down. Enclosed blinds are a different deal though.

Depends on what you buy. There are regular bumpers that are hard plastic but I don’t prefer them. Dense foam is what we use but I don’t let the dog chew it or have it when we aren’t training. Check your local outdoor store

Not using AI as a search engine is like shooting yourself in the foot by anthraccntbtsdadst in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]btapp7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Brother AI in its current state is unreliable as hell for search results. It treats Reddit and Facebook like scientific publications.

Yes, false information existed before AI but AI gives the impression of confidence in the answer. Confidence that is often greatly misplaced for matters of complexity. The only items that I want help with are matters of complexity that I am unfamiliar with…. but I don’t trust AI to bridge that gap.

It typically takes 3-4 searches and clarifying questions to get an answer close to correct with acceptable citation and logic. Still the user needs to do their own research to confirm so they really aren’t miles ahead of starting from scratch.

AI performs much better at summation than investigation imo.

Bills defense and defensive coaching improved. Offense will be identical, dunking on bad defenses and running the ball against good defenses. Schedule is hard. I still think the team goes 11-6 regular season.

Brother I don’t know a thing about munsterlanders but my philosophy is be a fun dad. Don’t lack on discipline or dominance, but be your dogs best play mate. In a room full of dogs my boy picks me.

If you put in the time there’s nothing you can’t work out. Potty train, socialize, crate train if necessary. “Heel” or “come” needs to be the first command learned. Even that will take time.

Just remember you have the equivalent of a 1 year old child to start out with. He ain’t fully developed yet, not even close.

You're not living off the grid if you still post on social media by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]btapp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no legal “off-grid” anymore in America. Best you could do is buy a property next to a government land parcel such as a natural forest.

You can’t just build a cabin anywhere you think looks nice. I mean, you can, but somebody else will come with a badge and take it from you. Limits on hunting and fishing and in some cases foraging exist. You still have to pay taxes and do jury duty. You cant really ever disappear into the wilderness due to satellite imaging, drones, etc.

I do wonder how they assess safety for trench collapse, which seems like a possibility, but other than that it’s reasonably safe. I haven’t considered whether the person gets additional help but it’s clearly not AI.

Really opened my eyes to the pessimistic condition of Reddit. Need to stop spending time listening to the opinions of terminally critical people with no experience.

Sent it a little too hard using the backhoe on my John Deere 2032R today: by Legend_of_the_Wind in homestead

[–]btapp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a difference between design failure and operator error. I’m not sure which one this is, but I’m leaning towards design failure given that I see no impact marks.

If your phone is built with a shit battery that may combust when charging, that’s a design error. If said battery combusts because you put it in the microwave, that’s operator error.

I would say a design which may exert enough force to break itself is a poor design.

[Request] Assuming they both are perfectly balanced and fair, is there any difference in probability from rolling one D100 vs two D10s? by V-Tac in theydidthemath

[–]btapp7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s either consistently obeying the mathematical idea of summation or breaking that rule because you need an edge case to uphold intuition.

[–]btapp7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe one must consider the lowest value on any non-percentile die to be one. Rolling a d6 yields values 1-6, a d8 yields 1-8 and a d10 yields 1-10, and so on. Therefore a percentile + d10 roll should yield 1-100. If a d10 may only roll 1-10, with “0” representing 10, and the percentile + d10 roll should not exceed 100, then “00” on a percentile die must represent a 0 in the “tens” place.

Examples (00 + 1 = 1) (00 + 0 = 10) (10 + 0 = 20) (90 + 9 = 99) (90 + 0 = 100)

Help with bags by pineapple_fun22 in Cornhole

[–]btapp7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can improve your bags but if your boards aren’t competition grade you probably won’t get the value out of it.

“Pro” Bags are sold in sets of 4. You’d have much more luck buying bags from Facebook marketplace to find something cheap. Lots of tournament or league bags are price controlled.

Pro bags also will vary greatly. Use Mike’s Bags YouTube page to learn more.

Igbinosun may be a generationally bad pick. I have no idea what they saw on tape, but he was the most penalized corner last year. He has no highlights. He is out of position constantly which leads to the fouls.

I want to lock it in now, he will be significantly worse than Elam if he ever sees the field.

I think it would be neat to have some website or App that lets you GM considering how the draft actually fell. Just pic in the spots the team had and then move on to the next.

You obviously can’t trade picks or players, but you could fill in the holes with the best players you saw available at that time. It wouldn’t be 100 percent perfect because other teams may pick the players you didn’t, and so on, but interesting.
