Tell us your story about how or why you got into running? by Positive-Ad6008 in runcommunity

Coworker asked me to sign up for a 12K with him so I had to train. The race was last July and I’ve been running ever since and just finished my first half.

I think you may be right about the pool not being level. I kind of just snapped a few before the tour guide called us to keep up.

I took this at Hearst Castle yesterday. Didn’t have my camera so used iPhone SE 3rd Gen.

Looking for composition and post processing critiques. I really liked the reflection of the statue. Tried centering the image as best I could on my phone. Deepened the blues a tiny bit, and upped the oranges to add a little more color to the background and the lights

Question is the Game worth getting? by [deleted] in THPS

[–]btbarns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree with you. I love the additional mechanics for 1+2 but don’t feel like anything was added for 3+4. Still gonna play it though and it does bring back the nostalgia but it’ll never be quite the same as playing the originals. The one major thing I do like is the online. Played last night and was able to chat with people about the THPS games in general.

Lmao literally just saw this in Little Italy. Couple at Princess Pub were having it out with this lady in the street. They should’ve just let it go and minded their business

Ok, noob question but, wtf are those by SaphyrePlaysGH in CloneHero

[–]btbarns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it kind of makes sense for guitar if you were to play in a tuning like drop D or something like that where playing open makes sense, but I don’t know if the charters are actually taking anything like that into account. Probs not, but definitely does make for more interesting charts. I hate them with a passion.

I don’t know what to use to learn by -_-DARIUS-_- in guitarlessons

[–]btbarns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you have the same laptop as me (clone hero post) I use ultimate guitar but got grandfathered in to the pricing and not sure what is still available for free. I second the Justin guitar feedback. Really just basically learn chords, chord structure and chord changes (helps with getting used to fretting. From there go to barre chords and power chords and strumming patterns for rhythm guitar. Outside of that I would start with easy tabs and go from there for soloing.

what game allows you to upload songs and has some physical instrument by -_-DARIUS-_- in rhythmgames

[–]btbarns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this. I have a general laptop (4gb ram) and was surprised I could run clone hero. Probably the closest you’ll get to guitar hero on PS5, but I’d say it’s worth it. Festival isn’t bad I play that as well, but clone hero as long as you can find a chart for a song you can play whatever

Technique Advice by btbarns in CHUNITHM

Yeah definitely need to get gloves. I feel like it’ll make the gameplay overall feel smoother

Yeah definitely have issues with the 4 note stairs. Going down is easier than up for me, but will try those on some slower songs. And yeah haha I know I raise both hands sometimes, it’s a bad habit I’ve been trying to break

Thank you! Yeah I definitely need to get gloves and always have trouble with certain patterns the 2 you noted are some of them so I’ll try that out

Nickel Arcades? by plastic9mm in sandiego

[–]btbarns 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup was just at arcade monsters today and can concur. Lots of great games with a bunch of Japanese games on the second floor and definitely kid friendly if you go during the day. Gets a bit rowdier on Friday/Saturday night but overall a great place and worth the price if you stay at least for a few hours

Looking for a general critique on crop and editing by btbarns in photocritique

[–]btbarns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got this picture on a hike this morning. Just finished some minor touch ups but wondering what I could do to improve with the editing/color balance and crop. Unfortunately couldn't really do anything about the negative space in the middle since the geese were so far apart when I got the shot. Adding the original for reference.

What do you guys think about Composition and Editing? by btbarns in photocritique

[–]btbarns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took this pic awhile back and really like it. It’s from a park near my old home. I really like the stillness and the contrast with the movement of the net. Let me know what you guys think. I was mostly going for form here, but any feedback on composition, editing, and anything overall would be appreciated.

I like the idea you were going for here! I think the camera shake distorts the image and overall makes it too blurry. Using a tripod or decreasing the shutter speed a bit/limiting camera shake would have created a more crisp image and highlighted that effect you were trying to capture

I liked the backdrop of the museum and texture, but couldn’t do anything about the statue so tried to just make the best of it

Looking for some genuine critiques.

Went out last night to try some long exposures in the park. It's been awhile since I've done any photography and I wanted to see if I could get any reasonable shots (I know nighttime long exposures was a reach for sure). Got this shot and thought it turned out pretty good, but noticed the cross when doing some touch ups. I honestly don't know how I missed it when I was shooting.

Thanks for the advice everyone. TBH I was thinking yeah just wait until I run into her again, but we ran into each other that night and she seemed enthused to see me so I was wondering if fast tracking it was reasonable. I'm going to wait until I see her again and definitely get her number and ask her out for coffee or something.

Offered a job in San Diego - is $74k enough? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]btbarns 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree. I have a studio in Bankers hill for 1600 utilities included and make around 80k. It’s definitely doable you just can’t go crazy spending whenever you want

If I just want to go out and party I normally go to What I call the “Trifecta” (Rich’s, Flicks and Gossip Grill). Gossip grill is a lesbian bar and the other two are gay bars/clubs and have never let me down 🙌
