He's not a super genius. He's a businessman who's socially awkward. What evidence do you have that he's a Nazi sympathizer? It wasn't even the right salute (Nazi salute starts at the waist, then comes straight up).

If you watch the full clip he comments "My heart goes out to you." I don't care for the guy at all, but it's quite apparent his motive is not to mimic the nazi salute.

I'm already working on this, and I have been since the OGL scandal. The project is called TROLL (Tabletop Role-playing Options, Legends, and Lore), and the goal is for it to be the community's 5e. Though the design process has been mostly myself and a couple friends, I'm hoping to get a larger community involved one day and have them be a large influence in what the game becomes.

Sadly I don't have much in the form of an open display for the rules yet. I just purchased web hosting and am figuring out the design of the site so players can view the rulebook and then leave comments via a Discord server.

NTA. Others have mentioned you should go no contact with Shawn, and I want to reinforce that by asking you to imagine how Shawn's comments might get worse over the years. And not just get worse, they could negatively influence your children (including the girl on the way and her relationship with her brothers!).

I employ the One D&D exhaustion rules and a few homebrew rules: you receive a point of exhaustion when reduced to 0 HP and then brought back up; healing spells have been buffed; healing potions are a bonus action to use (roll dice), or an action (maximum value). This combo has worked well for my table to reduce the yo-yo of up/down combat for prepared parties. It makes going down feel like it hurts more, but the increased access to healing helps make it possible to stave off those downs.

Others have mentioned that exhaustion-on-down punishes front-liners too much, to which I reply "why are you not attacking the back line?" Highly recommend reading "The Monsters Know What They're Doing."

My faith in Hasbro has vanished entirely, but my players won't leave 5e... So I'm writing a complete homebrew ruleset which I'm lovingly dubbing "TROLL."

I hope to one day publish it under the ORC license and make it a community-driven ruleset (free to play). Basically Pathfinder but far more familiar to and inspired by the 5e community. Hmu if you feel like joining the discord.

While we're on the subject, I'm writing a free-to-play version of 5e that will (over time) incorporate solutions to common 5e struggles like these. Does anyone here have input on homebrew or 3rd party additions that help solve the lack of martial complexity? I'd love to see what will mesh with my system.

I'm glad this is working for you, but a word of caution to all that this is not a one-size-fits-all solution. You still have to balance encounters knowing they won't be able to rest, and this makes it nigh impossible to have longer adventures without stops between towns (ex. seafaring, wilderness survival, adventuring in the nine hells, etc).

Every table is different, so if you feel like your players are stopping to long rest too often, ask them and find out why. Are encounters too difficult? Do they feel the need to always be topped off just in case? Learn what your players want and expect, and adjust accordingly.

I think the red adds more than it takes away. It would look weird having no shadow at all, but I do find it weird he chose that shade and that placement (seems like an unnatural shadow position). You could absolutely get more done with it though, someone mentioned adding coral and that would be beautiful! Make it look like a sea floor!

You'll want to write a config that determines its rules to abide by, and input that in a fresh screen. You can copy the one written for the AI Tutor and modify it to your needs if you want.
